Well, beside the Destiny information on Bungie's website is a big "We're hiring for the PS3!" advertisement. Take that how you will.

Hiring at this stage only alludes to a later PS3 release, with a timed 360/720 release

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I dont like this premise. Humanity degraded from a space faring race to one city on Earth?

Sounds like a mix from the story behind the Brutes in Halo before they joined the Covenant and Gears of War (bombing themselves back to the stone age).

Halo is about Humanity persevering and ascending to their rightful place as protectors of the galaxy. This........just seems depressing. That hovering alien ship only strengthens that humanity is the pet of another alien race.

A story means everything to a sci-fi game. Humans don't like playing games where Humans loose/or are the "bitch", pardon my potty mouth :P

Ohh yeah! If there is one franchise we need more games, then it is the FPS genre.

I disagree.  Post-apocalyptic media where humanity is the underdog is huge in all forms, including games, films, and novels.  Lots of people prefer that setting over the 'Starship Troopers' form; I know I do, and I used to read tons of sci-fi novels.  Ultimately, though, people aren't going to worry about that if the story and setting are quality.

I'm pretty sure you are being sarcastic but I honestly do.  This doesn't seem like a generic FPS  1st off but how many noticeable good FPS games are there?  CoD, BF, Bioshock, Halo, killzone, Borderlands......Are any of them the same?  No.  They are all distinctively different.  The only time anybody should complain is when they are genereic shooters.  This is the same problem with JRPG's and TPS genres.

Homefront, Crysis, Far Cry, Medal of Honor, Resistance, Metro. They are not exactly the same but I mean is published by Activision so I am pretty sure it wont revolucionize the whole genre. But we will see.

Not what I mean.  I mean it doesn't appear to be a generic shooter. Homefront, Crysis 2, Medal of Honor, and Metro are all viewed as being pretty generic hence their low scores. Only time will tell if it will be good or not but just pointing out that is an FPS just makes people look silly seeing as every genre is the same way.  The only reason FPS's has got picked on by people like you lately is because they sell better than other genres for the most part

looks cool but why a kiddy approach? how are the mature gamers going to feel mature about this?

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Most game stories are awful. Even if the story isn't that bad, the storytelling usually is.  Gameplay is everything.

I think that a few of you are jumping to conclusions. There isn't any evidence that this game will actually be a first person shooter. There are actually a lot of reasons for it not being another shooter. Firstly the publisher already has a lock on that genre, and probably wouldn't welcome competition for their products. Secondly the genre is already overcrowded. Thirdly we are talking about a studio that has been making first person shooters non stop for years. If you were them would you want to make the same thing all over again. It is probably likely that the reason that they wanted to leave Microsoft. Is so they could get away from having to churn out first person shooters.

Which brings me to my point. Everything stated in the original post points to this being a role playing game, and I mean everything. The tone, the art, the story, and even the setting. If someone had told you this was a Square game rather then a Bungie game. You would immediately call it a new Final Fantasy. Talk about type casting a studio.
