The whole game built around stickers.

You use stickers in battle. No stickers. No battles.

But... enemies don't use stickers. They all have their own special attack(s) and they don't use stickers. They are not bound by the same limits that is for Mario.

Super Mario Bros is flawed by design.

The whole game built around jumping.

You use jump to defeat enemies. No jumping, no defeating enemies.

But... enemies don't attack by jumping, they attack by walking into Mario. They are not bound by the same limits that is for Mario.

I guess my point is, asymmetry between the player and the enemies is rather standard. It might seem strange to people used to playing FPS games, where the enemy mostly has the same rules, but it's not a flaw for the player to be bound by different rules.
