Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why the Wii U might be set up for failure

Around the Network

It's not a big casual hit, and it doesn't quite appeal to the bulk of core gamers so it won't be nearly as big as the Wii, and it probably won't finish first place, but that doesn't mean it'll be a failure. There's still a huge audience who'll buy it and support it for years - the Nintendo fans.

Reading now. Plz don't give them clicks guys, that's what they want.

Edit:

1. Wow, he mentioned Halo and Wii Sports in the same sentence and also said that NSMBU is not in the same league. LOL

2. And now the Wii's life cycle ended premature. I distinctly remember the press saying that the Wii shouldn't exist in the first place back in 2006 and now the complete turnaround, the Wii didn't exhaust it's potential and should have been way more successful. Spin doctors.

"The problem that no one has really thought of or spoken of: The primary face buttons and the right analog stick are reversed."

I give up, this guy is too smart for me. Nobody ever realized this but him, he's a genius.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

This kind of articles makes me laugh. Remember when the Wii was going to be a massive failure? Not everything is set in stone yet.

1. The initial price tag is a tad too high. $300 is great by new-console standards — remember the PlayStation 3 at six big ones? — but general consumers don’t see “Wii” and think “high-end electronics.”

Agree with this one, and this might be the reason it could fail. Remember how 3DS was doing at 250? We might see panic pricecut next year if sales don't pick up.

Never noticed that they reversed the X-Y and A-B buttons compared to 360. That should be a bit confusing for those that are used to that gamepad.

Yes, they changed them a few years ago:

No offense man, but they didn't reverse anything. It's been like this since the olden SNES (Famicom) days. It's like this on the Classic Controller Pro.

Sony and MS are fucked.

Nintendo is already selling the Wii U at loss (don't know how much though). I only see that happening in a worst case scenario.
