Forums - Microsoft Discussion - 9.4 million gamers log in to play games on XBL in an average week

That is quite a number of people. It makes me understand better why they charge for the service - because it some some to run, manage, upkeep, etc. I personally don't have much time to game online, yet!

It is quite impressive how fast Xbox Live has grown in the past couple of years.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

It'd be a completely different statistic if they are talking about people who played online vs those who played games whilst logged in.

Tease.

Wonder what the ratio is for gaming and non gaming on that week. Since recently MS said more people use other stuff then gaming. I would think it would be 65%+ gaming this week.

9.4m per week playing online games, they didnt said all the other people just going to Live to watch movies and stuff...

And not everyone can turn their Xbox every week per example i barely turn it on last month.

Good point. The actual number could easily double if you include netflix usage and such.

That seems kind of low, I would have expected a higher number. So that means on an average week only 13% of 360 players sign in.

If the time span was increased the number would go up, I would be interested in the average for a month.

Lol Sony fans really need to try harder.

You think this is low ? >40m people in the last 8 months is not enough ?

Not everyone wants Xbox Live.

...what?

9.4 million people per week / 70 million consoles sold = 13% of the install base logs into Live per week.  In my opinion that number seems low.  I have always thought Live had quite a significant number of its users online due to how popular it is.  Guess I was wrong.

You expect 70 million users to play on 70 million currenly sold 360s?

No not 100%, I was actually expecting Live to have maybe 40% of users on in a given month, maybe drop that down to 35% during any given week. So 25 million users.

Now if I'm correct 30-40 million people own xbox live so let's say if 40 million people own it then that is 25% a week.  If 30 million people then 33%.  Not everybody has xbox live.  People aren't going to pay for it if they arent going to use it.  The only time I get it is when Im going to play a game online.

Indeed. 9.4m would be low if it was all combined online activity.

I look forward to see how Live performs over the next two years.

Compared to LoL's number, any other online statistic pales in comparison.

Free to play. A 50$ Pc can run it.~

Do the maths.

a $50 pc cannot run it on full res. Either way, that's what MS gets for sticking to subs.

So Sony and Nintendo platforms must be doing godly numbers right?

The install base isn't 70M. A lot of this sold units are already broken, people stop using it, or are replacement consoles. So the percentage is higher than that.
