Yeah, I also thought it was a bit presumptuous that they're basing the article off of just that.

Actually Digital Foundry analysis says GTA IV runs in native 720p on Xbox and in 640p on PS3.
"First things first. Xbox 360 runs at full 720p (1280x720), whereas the PlayStation 3 code takes a 20 per cent hit, being natively rendered at 1152x640 before being software-upscaled."
"So far, aside from the different visual approaches, there's not much to tell the two games apart. But the one difference I couldn't help but notice was the sense that as well as possessing a higher resolution, the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV runs noticeably smoother than the PlayStation 3 code."
And if it's true makes sense PS3 being lead platform because it's easier to port from PS3 > 360 with better results than viceversa.
I don't care which is lead. I just want a reasonable ps3 version. No more Skyrims.

Doesn't look like it's a direct screenshot, too much AA (see wires). At the very least, it doesn't appear to be at native res.
