Oh goodie, more FPS's. We desperately need some more of those to fill the giant gap in the marketplace.

I figured it would be pretty obvious Bungies next game would be a shooter......

Believe it or not, Bungie made some pretty successful non-shooter games before Microsoft turned them into a Halo mill.

As reported on the LA Times, the first of the Destiny titles will be a timed exclusive for Xbox 360 and - drum roll please - a console described as "Xbox 720"

All I needed to read. Its gonna be like Bioshock or Mass Effect. Itll end up being multiplat, but most gamers will associate the IP with the console most played it on in the first place.....Xbox.

Lets see what Bungie can do from scratch.

""Additionally, the Demonware posting mentions that a preference for PS3 experience for applicants, seemingly implying a PS3 SKU for the game is indeed in development—something that was not necessarily a given in the contract."

PS3 version is in the works. Originally the game would have ended up as an accidental timed-exclusive since they had yet to decide on if a PS3 version was "financially viable". This newest info confirms that it is.

You only reinforced my point. If 360 and 720 get it first, then the IP will be associated with Xbox brand, with the Sony brand picking up the scraps. Not a good start, especially if this game really takes off.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Yes it sounds like it will be a timed exclusive for the 360/nextbox which has proved to be successful for Microsoft this gen. What this does is creates a user base for the console and sequels are usually bought on the same console that you bought the 1st one for.

Saw a recent article that Bungie was hiring devs with PS3 experience. Looks like they decided to make a PS3 version after all...

If anything can end up being the "Halo-killer", it would be Bungies new IP. If it's on Sony's console too, even better.

i really dont understand why would they make it xbox exclusive, literally half the market is on PS3 and they could double their sales with just releasing the game on PS3. they would be complete morons if they didnt make the game on ps3

They aren't. Nobody is saying it will be. Its timed exclusive, which is arguably just as good an effect. Think of the sales disparity between Oblivion, Orange Box, Bioshock 1, and Mass Effect 2.

The gamers will associate the IP with Xbox, even if it comes to PS3 later. Pure genius.

Can't wait to see what the final product looks like.

But I'm confused. Why is it so important that people associate the game with Xbox? And why is it genius?

they gain nothing, they actually get lower sales, because when the game releases on 360 there would be a lot of hype with it. the hype will die after it releases and then they release the game on ps3, with low hype and marketing thus less attention the game will get and it will sell less on the ps3, its very very stupid.

What the post above me said. Getting the sales scraps when hype dies down and the holidays are over means the majority of gamers will play this game on Xbox, including the sequels.

For a multiplat, MS just ensured 70% (approx) of its sales are gonna be on their consoles.

But I think what bananaking was saying (and please correct me if I'm wrong, bk) is that Bungie would be better off it they launched the game at the same time on both systems.

And I think you're saying the timed exclusive would be much better for Microsoft. So my question is: why is it so important that Microsoft gets the lion's share of sales?
