Forums - Sony Discussion - Ultimate Goal for Orbis: Run 1080p, 60frames with no problem. Powerful enough for today and tomorrows markets. Affordable but not a slouch.

This sounds very gaikai-esque. Please sony make my prediction come true.
Capable of today- AND tomorrow's games?
Using the network IN game?

So will it be called the playstation orbis or sony prbis or is that just a codeword? Maybe something different than orbos and ps4?

Around the Network

I'd buy that.

I really can't understand why people want a cheap console. Do you want to buy a new one in 5 years?

The 360 was $100-200 cheaper than the PS3 and it's lasted just as long.

There's a difference between cheap and affordable, and frankly it NEEDS to be affordable or it will sell like trash.

Sounds so awesome. That last line annoys me though. Why not keep it for E3. I am talking "Sony is expected to announce the new console “just before E3″ next year, according to the source." There is so sense of wonder left for E3 anymore. Reckless Sony leaks or announces everything before. Argh.

SONY always announces shit before E3 and Xxpands on them at E3

1080p, 60fps game in 3D with “no problem,”

so isnt going to be a significant leap in other areas?

PS3 was not cheap, but im on my third one. Unless you ment a PS5 then im not sure why you say that when most owners have had a PS3 break at least once.

I was referring to a successor. just imagine you bought a ps3 on launch day... you'd be able to play uncharted 3 in 3d now with the same old hardware which is kind of awesome!

what i mean is: lower entry price = shorter hardware lifecycle. this would lead to less coding optimisation and the consoles would turn into standartised pc devices.

what i want is a powerhouse for 500-600€. totally focused on 3d gaming and safe to say it will provide top notch graphics for the next couple of years.

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

That is why their PR has been mediocre at best this gen. Why not surprise everyone when the entire world is watching.

What are the specs of the AMD A10, is it any good? I've never heard of it lol...

If it has 8GB of RAM, that'd be amazing, if it had 16GB... that'd be overkill and would allow devs to just go nuts and do whatever they want and not complain. The HDD seems to be fine, especially if it means no mandatory installs with a faster bluray drive too, and running at 1080p 60FPS would be absolutely amazing, my PC struggles to do that with most games, and I've spent a ton on it, lol.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if the price is high, since I was happy enough to buy the PS3 for £425 when it first launched her in the UK, and I've not regretted it at all.

Sony will DEFINITELY be taking a loss, a pretty huge one I reckon, with each console sold, if they want the price to be competitive, and if it isn't, and costs over £300 or something, everyone will complain and hate them for not giving a price cut like a month after release, lol. They have to realise that Sony doesn't want to be losing hundreds of pounds/dollars per sale, but it's going to have to happen, and since they seem to be in trouble already, it's going to suck for them...

What other areas. 4D? Yea it won't be the best in running virtual reality games. :P

The system will feature a Blu-ray drive, and offer a 256gb “standard” hard-drive. However, it was not clear if it will be a normal or solid state drive.

The size of that hard drive is strange to be a "standard" HDD, but at the same time Sony can't be so mad to go with an SSD.

Please excuse my bad English.
