Forums - Sales Discussion - Why do PS3 3rd party exclusives sell more than Wii 3rd party exclusives? - A Comparison

Why would you create this thread, Pezus? Now, the Nintendo fans are going to retaliate and create a "Why do Wii Exclusives sell more than PS3 Exclusives".

You're going to start a war between Sony & Microsoft and Sony & Nintendo. We're already outnumbered by Nintendo fans. We cannot take on Nintendo and Microsoft! The Nintendo fans will focus all their energy on us. And the Microsoft fans will do the same. And our energy will be split in two. We will be slaughtered!

The only way we can survive is if we pit Nintendo & Microsoft against each other as well. That way, we can let them fight each other and they'll be weaker when they fight us. I'm already devising two threads titled, "Why do Wii Exclusives sell more than 360 Exclusives?" and "Why do 360 3rd Party Exclusives sell more than Wii exclusives?"

It's the only way...

I find that the 360 users here mostly don't care about Microsoft vs. Nintendo comparisons. A Kinect vs. Wii third party thread however might be an excellent idea!

I think that's a much trickier proposition.  Everyone who owns a Wii and purchases a Wii game has the Wii mote and Nunchuk.  Not everyone who buys a game that is "Kinnect Compatible" owns Kinnect.  For example, there is no real way of knowing how many of the 6.21 million copies of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim were purchased by Kinnect owners, if any.  I think you would have to limit the comparison to games that "Require Kinnect".

Yeah I was just about to say that.

Yeah I was just about to say that.

Nintendo published that in Japan only.  Sega published it in North America and Europe.  Since it only sold .66 in Japan, 7.19 of sales should be added to the list.

He went by published by Nintendo games.

Not in North America and Europe. It was Sega.

Nintendo only in Japan, like Just Dance.

I'm sorry, but this seems like a horribly specific comparison tailored to make the PS3 look better. Saying third party exclusives and then allowing games that are on the 360 on there is just plain silly.
By the way, I'm probably missing something, but why isn't the first Mario and Sonic on there again? Did Nintendo publish it?

It's a valid comparison. People exclude the PC when doing 360 vs. PS3 comparisons so why don't we exclude 360 when we do PS3 vs. Wii comparisons?

Mario and Sonic are there. Two games in fact.

No one justifies it this way, though. The justification for excluding PC is that it's not a console. Even then, you could argue that it's unfair since excluding PC multiplats only really benefits the 360. The same way, this only benefits the PS3 here (and greatly, at that).

Also, the fact that I'm far from the only one here who finds this comparison ridiculous speaks volumes, don't you think?

Oh, and I said the first Mario and Sonic; the one that sold 7.85m. After looking it up, I see that it was actually published by Nintendo and not Sega even though the DS version and subsequent games in the series were. That's just odd.

Oh didnt know that ;o, but wouldnt the list literally be the same still?

Yes. Difference will come in the total sw. Wii would stand at 46M, still 12M behind PS3.

why not compare the 3 ones already?
