I'm not really a fan of the synthetic instruments used in CT though (piano and trumpet).
But, I will admit that though I don't like the CT music, that's a good one. However, if you go to Chrono Cross, it's a whole other level to me (just had to put this here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2w-Jo2qrSI).
I'll be completely fair, it has a strange charm to itself and really some parts of the tunes are really unique and advanced I'd say for SNES tunes, but in general, it's not something that really pleases me. The melodies are so-so.
But I can understand why you would like them, and even prefer them to FFVI music, though it's a stretch for my limited imagination.
It doesn't help that I never played through CT, I never liked it (to clarify, I have listened to its OST on youtube). Always been a FF fan and I'm a bit traditional when it comes to things like that.
