Always on the lookout for new information, GameFocus has found interesting evidence that Microsoft is actively working on a new console. We already knew that Skype was now owned by Microsoft, and certain protocols of the software are used to allow users to voice and video chat on the Xbox 360. Well, here’s where it gets interesting. GameFocus has found out that Microsoft is looking for a Lead Program Manager for the Skype platform on the Next Generation of Xbox. According to the job offer, time is short and someone has to be hired very soon. Could this mean the next Xbox is right around the corner? If they are so short on time to develop the software, it certainly seems to indicate that they could be in the final stages.

Here’s the offer in question:

"Skype is working on powering real-time voice and video communications on the Xbox. Xbox is a fundamental lynchpin of Skype’s living-room strategy, and we are focused on enabling amazing new in-game and in-console voice and video experiences for the next generation of Xbox. This is a crucial initiative for Xbox, and it is time-critical given the hardware lead times involved.” https://careers.microsoft.com/

Not much doubt is left about what comes next.

Well, it is inevitable Microsoft will be releasing a console within a hear and half. The main questions will be its theme, its pitch, and its most prominent feature. I call integration with Windows 8, which will interact with their phones as well as PC.

Can someone tell me since I don't recall it happening, has MS confirmed there will be no talks of next gen at E3 this year?

Am I the only one who doesn't care about video chat on Xbox, or the next gen console? I want more games this E3, not video chatting. Hopefully this E3 won't be too boring for Xbox owners :(

well that kinda sucks. Bungie just said they won't be at E3 either :S I was sure they will be there to demo their game during ms conference this year..wonder what they have gamewise

Bungie hasn't done/shown much of anything since Halo Reach. Their next title will be multiplatform, so it's too bad that they won't even show up alongside Activision (who they're co-operating with).

I think blackops 2 footage are a given...Rise or that Crytek game was called should be there as well...maybe Tomb Raider again? 

Yeah, Acticision will obviously be there. I just meant that Bungie could have joined them to show their upcoming sci-fi title that they're working with. (it may be too early, but at least it's release year it confirmed)

Why do we take a corporations word as it is?

What about MS denying the existence of a 360 slim?

What about the massive denials of a PS3 version of Bioshock or Mass Effect 2?

The companies will deny deny deny until they see fit to tell the people. I am still holding out on the possibility of a surprise 2012 release and a "Twilight Princess" Halo 4 release.
