Forums - General Discussion - A helpless white guy beaten/stripped naked by Black thugs

I really don't want to sound racist, but the top rated comment at the moment is ideal for how my city is. It's sad.......

This is the reason why you see more black arrests and crime. Because crime for crime, a black person is more likely to be judged faster and harsher for doing the exact same thing in the exact same way. They also receive harsher sentencing for doing the exact same thing as a white criminal. They are less likely to be shown any form of leniency by the police or the legal system.

Study, after study has shown this in the U.S. from children being punished in school to the prison system.

Educate yourselves.

Unfortunately, from my time as a cop, I've seen this first hand.

I had a story typed up but I erased it.  In the wrong hands, it could have really do some damage.  Some things are best left unsaid.

And I bet in the same breath you'll tell me Zimmerman was a racist.

Maybe not a racist.  A murderer, though.

I think the prosecutor has aimed too high with the murder charge, and he is most likely going to be acquited.  Really, if you wanted to charge him with anything, and have a good possibility it would stick, it would have to be involuntary manslaughter.  As it is, she is going to have to prove without a shadow of a doubt that Zimmerman was the sole agressor and Trayvon was only defending himself.  From what we know now, there is no evidence that proves that.  And in the affidavit, there was no mention of new evidence.  Just basically a different view of the events that happened.

I will say this, Trayvon's parents are not going to like this process.  From the beginning they have tried to make their son out to be an innocent boy, with the 4-5 year old pictures and the interviews saying he was just a good kid.  Of course, since then things have come out that show that isn't the most accurate picture.  What do they think Zimmerman's defense lawyer is going to do in court?  He's going to start looking seriously into Trayvon's background, and there may be some more things there that don't paint him in the most favorable light.  Things that may have been on his Twitter and/or Facebook before his parents deleted his account.  Such as the one Tweet from his cousin about Trayvon taking a swing at a bus driver.

This may be a bit off topic but...

...You guys ever notice how Family Fued ALWAYS has a white family pitted against a minority family. The show has to be doing that purposely. Based on America's demographics, this can't be happening by coincidence. So yeah, blame Family Fued for instilling racial fighting into America's subconscious.

racism is stupid. those people who mugged that white guy will do that to a black guy anyways.

Yeah, I don't think Zimmerman was a murderer.  I think he was just way too proactive and over confident (having a gun used to give me superhuman confidence too because I know that no matter what happened, I would "win").  When I was a cop, we had guys that REALLY wanted to be a cop.  They were called "Holster Sniffers".  For some reason or another, they couldn't be cops so they became fire fighters, security guards, etc.  They often tried to hang out with us, ride along with us, and just impress us with their general knowledge of cop stuff.  Nothing in the world would make them feel better than for a cop to say, "You would have made a great cop."  You could just feel them jizzing in their pants.  I think Zimmerman was one of those guys.  He really wanted to be a hero.  From what I understand, he got a taste of it before by stopping a robbery in progress.  Unfortunately, he did something he wasn't trained for and had no authority to do.  As a result, he provoked a situation that got somebody killed.

I don't think he acted in malice (or at least he didn't intend to kill anyone).  He just tried to be a hero by going after an "innocent" person.  Maybe Martin was overly aggresive.  Maybe Martin was a bad seed.  I don't know.  The fact remains that he wasn't doing anything wrong at the time he was approached by Zimmerman.  Zimmerman had no right to interrogate, detain, or pursue.  He could observe, but that's it.

A murder charge won't stick and if it does, it will easily be appealed.  Nobody is innocent in this one, though.  Martin had some sketchy things in his background (reason for suspension, etc.) and so did Zimmerman (history of violence).  It'll be interesting to see how the events play out and the ramifications it has.

Wher's that zoo at??

If I remember correctly, the reason Zimmerman couldn't make it as a cop was because he didn't meet the physical requirements.  Which, if look at his old mug shot, he did seem quite a bit out of shape.  It seems to me that he lost quite a bit of weight (the news media was originally reporting he had about 100 lbs over Trayvon, when it was only ~30lbs. and Trayvon had ~3-4 inches on the him.)  I'm guessing he was shaping up so he could finally join the police force.  So who knows what would have become of him if this never happened.

I do agree with you that he should have never got out of his vehicle.  I mean I can kinda understand why he did.  There had been a series of robberies in his neighborhood, I don't think there were any arrests, and he felt he may actually have the guy who did it.  And according to him, he did stop following when the dispatcher told him to do so.  Still, he shouldn't have put himself in the at position.  And if Zimmerman's story is actually what happened, and so far there isn't really any evidence to prove otherwise, then Trayvon had no right to become physically aggressive to the guy no matter how much he didn't like being followed.

It will be interesting to continue to follow this case.  I just hope those who wanted this so badly don't move the goal post yet again (originally a lot were saying they just wanted him to be brought in and questioned, but when it was shown that he actually was they changed it to wanting him arrested and charged) and demand him to get life.  One, that isn't happening.  And two, they may use it as an excuse to spread more violence.

Edit: To your above comment.  Actually the police did do their job.  They questioned Zimmerman at the scene. They took him in hand cuffs to the station for questioning.  At that point, the prosecutor didn't think they had a strong enough case since the only thing they had to go on was Zimmerman's story and 2 eye witnesses who saw Trayvon beating on Zimmerman, while Zimmerman yelled for help.  Of course, that wasn't good enough for the angry mob of race baiters.  No, they HAD to see an arrest and charges pressed against him.

Unfortunately, in this case, I'm not sure the police did do their job.  I've done a "hold for investigation" for 72 hours with a lot less than what they had to go on.  We don't know what the police had.  We don't know what photos were taken, what forensics were done, what blood spatter was recorded, etc.  All we know is the tainted picture painted by the media.  I do know from experience that, if there's a dead body, the investigation has to be REALLY thorough.  I've had investigators tell me to drop a case because the odds were against me winning in court and I still pursued them because I felt I was right.  I've never had one fall apart on me (usually because the offender pled guilty).  Maybe the arresting officer (and I did actually look at the police report--he did have charges that would have stuck had he pursued them) didn't have the balls to stick to his guns.  Also, the media reports that it WAS NOT Zimmerman yelling for help on the audio: http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/04/02/forensics-experts-zimmerman-was-not-screaming-for-help-in-911-call/

Now if you want to be mad at anyone for not doing their job, you should be mad at the media.  Even when the info was all there from Day 1, they made this about race.  They reported Zimmerman as white, when he is Hispanic.  They only released images of Trayvon from when he was like 12 or 13 (still haven't seen any recent pics officially released), not him as the 6'3" 17 year old young man.  They only showed Zimmerman in his mug shot from a few years ago, when he was much heavier and more intimidating.  They edited a 911 tape with the specific intent to make it look like he was only singling Trayvon out because he was black, when it was the dispatcher who asked him Trayvon's race.  They tried to report Zimmerman was saying "fucking coon." Then after they enhanced the tape, something they could have done from the get go, he's actually saying "fucking cold."  They finally showed the video tape of Zimmerman being detained after the incident (most people thought he was let go right at the scene) to try and show there were no wounds on his head, but after enhancing that footage you can see the lacerations to the back of his head.  How anyone can still believe these networks is beyond me.

As for the media, from what I've read, they had no interest in this story.  It wasn't until over a week had passed and some major network got ahold of the story because the family wouldn't just let the story die on Florida's local news networks.  When it hit the mainstream, things went into overdrive.  They painted the picture of a babyface Martin just like you said.  I still don't know how big Martin and Zimmerman were.  Their height and weight seem to fluctuate every day!  NBC edited a 911 phone call, CNN was running that "Fucking coon" (Who the hell says "Coon" in this day and age?).  And made varying remarks about the existence/nonexistence of a head wound.  I'm sure that, if there was a wound on Zimmerman, there's a ton of documentation.  We just have to wait until court.  Zimmerman was reported to have had a broken nose and other injuries, too.  We'll see.

I learned a long time ago not to fully trust the media.  Simple things like editing a picture to make people look more sinister and jumping to false conclusions (Duke Lacrosse Team) have ruined my view of them.  Somewhere between Zimmerman's story, Trayvon's dead body, the police investigation, and the eye witness accounts is the truth.  Zimmerman didn't wake up and say, "I'm gonna kill me a black guy." and then found a sweet and innocent Trayvon and decide to kill him.  Trayvon Martin didn't say, "Why is this guy following me from the store.  I'm going to kill him!" and then just assault Zimmerman.  We just don't know what happened.  We just have these two guys--neither have ever been charged but both have skeletons in their closet--of different races and one guy killed the other.  The only evidence I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt at this point is the unedited 911 tapes.  It's Zimmerman's words, and nothing else, that make me feel he's at fault here.  Glad I never had to work a case like this one!!

this is racism, but because there black it will be seen as not being raciest.
if it was group of white people doing that to a black person then it would be a whole nother story, pathetic
