Forums - Sports Discussion - The (un)official MotoGP 2012 Thread - 3rd Race: Estoril

Here in VGChartz we have threads for the F1, Football (real football), NFL, NBA, NHL, etc. There are even threads about Wrestling!

Yet Moto GP hasn't had any. VGChartz, I'm dissapointed with you.

But this is going to change now.

Given that the championship starts this weekend with the spectacular night race in Qatar I thought, why not create a thread about it? And here you have it!

Welcome to the unoficial Moto GP Thread

Come here my friends, come to talk about your favorite drivers, what do you think about the new category, Moto3, and the introduction of the CRTs, and all what will happen during this year.

And remember, full throttle and have fun!

Please excuse my bad English.

As I guessed, no one seems to be interested.

Anyway, after the practice sessions of yesterday, it's clear that this year will be at least as fun as last year.

In moto 3, the new bikes are slower than the old 125cc, but the fights will more than compensate that. Riders like Maverick and Cortese will sure be in the first spots. And who knows which ones will appear: Oliveira, Kent, Faubel, Salom and even Khairuddin have good teams, and the newcomer Fenati has done an excellent job so far.

In moto 2 things haven't changed that much. The big news is that there are less riders (a welcome change) and that after many, many years there is a woman on the grid, Elena Rosell. The last one was Katja Poensgen in 2003. The favorite this year is Marc Marquez, but Luthi, Pol Espargaro, Corsi, Corti, Elias and Iannone among others will also fight for the championship.

And in motoGP, the new CRTs are 2-3 seconds slower so we will have 2 fights, the one of the prototypes and the one of the CRTs. In the first class, Yamaha/Lorenzo are very, very close to the almighty duo Stoner/Honda. Unfortunately Ducati is still 0.5 sec slower. Rossi will be in troubles again. The favorites are the Stoner, Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Spies and obviously Stoner. Regarding the CRTs, Randy De Puniet and Colin Edwards are one step ahead of the others, but as the championship advances, Aleix Espargaro will join them as well.

Fun times await us. Let's have fun!

2 small family facts: Louis Rossi has nothing to do with Valentino Rossi, and Isaac and Maverick Viñales are cousins.

20 Ivan SILVA 2'00.493 5.859
21 James ELLISON 2'00.757 6.123

Surprising the positions of Crutchlow and Rossi. Excellent for Crutchlow, I think no one expected that, and quite a disappointment to see Rossi 12th. But even worse is that he's at 2 seconds of Lorenzo (great job) and 1sec slower than Hayden with the same bike!

It seems that tomorrow it will be a fight between Lorenzo and Stoner.

Track layouts in your thread, I like that!

Quite a diverse set of locales for the races, which is neat!

Also, I'm voting for B. Spies to win, simply because his name is awesome.

He's really good, but the has two titans in front of him.

And today he has had bad luck and has fallen, he may have got hurt in one of his shoulders, but these people seem to be made of titanium, so he'll probably be fine tomorrow.
