So it begins, PS4 will actually come out
The resolution part makes this rumor seem false though, and that it wont be backwards compatible.

Yeah, because Sony would never release a console without b/c...

They did, but was eventually stripped...so?

so if the internet is out for some reason you can't play games on it? what if you don't have internet at all?

make it as powerful as possible Sony!

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I'd think a heavily modified 6000 series chip would be far better overall than a 7000. Considering 6000 will already be capable of smaller die sizes, lower power/heat, etc all the while being optimized to handle the same latest tech.

Even if this is true, I guarantee you'll see no big difference in games.

If i'm not wrong Southern Islands supports higher resolutions up to 4096x2160@50Hz with DisplayPort rev.1.2.

It does support* it. Would it be utilized is what I'm getting at.

Don't forget the Vita. Sony would rather sell you the same game over again than allow you to keep playing. If this rumor is true... which I can easily see happening

Why they not use te new GTX 680 generation... faster, powerful, cooler and cheaper than any other GPU on the market.

Like Ben said, Southern Islands is plenty good enough. Nvidia's Kepler would have been nice but maybe Sony doesn't want to partner up with Nvidia anyore. Also, a GTX 680 equivalent GPU would make the console way to expensive. More than likely they are going "mid-range" so if this rumor is true, they would likely fo for a 7770 equivalent tops to keep it affordable for consumers.

we don't want affordable ... we want POWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

now seriously... GPU could be a modified 7950 to output a max of 100 to 120 watt and CPU could go as high as 60 whatt (200 max for total, energy and temperature is key now)... 2 to 3 GB for GPU and a 1.5Gb for main... not having BC is not a deal breaker IMO... its not the case that all PS3 will stop work at the launch date of "Orbis"
About the used games... its not need to be on-line all the time... just for the "registration" of the game in that PSN account or "Orbis" machine (the second is more likely)!

So the PS4 will go all powerful as well, because Sony's conclusion from the seventh generation is that this is the way to go. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Nintendo and Microsoft settled for a moderate improvement over current HD consoles (2-4 times the power) while Sony went all out (10x), and then went out of business because they lost another 6 billion.

Fixed that for you champ.

Thats great but which GPUs are we talking about exactly? I'd take a 6970 over 7750 any day :)

i dont think this is true, because if it is it will cost like 1000+$ or more? LOL the consoles dont need a near pc hardware to run with awesome graphics

anyways be prepared for a huge realease price like always in sony

i don't know much about gpu's and cpu's but it all sounds epic.
