Update: According to Eurogamer, a spokesperson for Blaze told them that this price tag is incorrect and that the actual price is unconfirmed.

The NeoGeo handheld console revealed by Famitsu back in January has got itself official confirmation for a UK launch.

Gaming accessory firm Blaze has struck a deal with SNK to bring the device to market in good old Britain in Q2 2012.

The NeoGeo X, known in Japan as the 'Neo-Geo Keitai', will have a 4.3 inch LCD screen, 2GB of onboard memory, an SD card slot, an AV Out port and a slick black design.

The device will play 20 pre-installed titles cherry picked from the original Neo-Geo library including World Heroes, Ultimate 11, Top Player's Golf, Nam-1975, Mutation Nation, Last Resort, King of Monsters, Frenzy, King of Fighters '94 and Cyber-Lip. Full list below.

The console will apparently be produced in limited edition form. According to MCV, and despite conflicting reports, Blaze has confirmed the handheld will carry a pennies-in-the-groove-of-your-sofa price tag of £500, and for that price, f*** it, you might as well buy three.

Blaze's Jason Cooper said the firm is excited to "re-ignite the excitement" of the classic console "in a more affordable manner, to a much wider audience."

Yeah, totally.

The bundled games are:

Art of Fighting

Baseball Stars

Cyber Lip

Fatal Fury

Fatal Fury Special

Football Frenzy

King of the Monsters

Last Resort

League Bowling

Magician Lord

Metal Slug

Mutation Nation

Nam 1975

Samurai Shodown

Sengoku

Super Sidekicks

The King of Fighters '94

The Ultimate 11

Top Players Golf

World Heroes

I don't see it selling that well.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Knowing the Neo Geo hardcore fans and it's a limited edition it will be sold out day 1..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

Very high price, but at the same time these games are ridiculously expensive on their own these days. But the demand just isn't there and I don't know what SNK is thinking charging that price... not to mention all the titles they've already released on PSN as well compilation collections on a bunch of consoles for much cheaper.

The Vita is so expensive...

It aint gonna be £500 for an emulator of 20 year old games, that can all be played on PS3 and PSP for pounds each.

That price is wrong mark my words.

Well, given it's limited edition they might have produced and predicted very low, yet substantional numbers for the system.

SNK do it again. They sure love overpricing all their devices.

UPDATE: A spokesperson for Blaze has told Eurogamer that the £500 price tag suggested in MCV's story is incorrect.

"It's not £500," they confirmed. Apparently MCV's figure was based on a month's old forum post from a community member declaring what he'd be willing to pay for the device.

Blaze wouldn't confirm what the actual price will be, but said an official announcement will be made soon.
