@kowenicki: Do you update the graphs in the OP weekly?

i missed last week, but usually I do.   This week I had to go backwards and update for the adjustments too.

Cool, I'm guessing the Vita is your focus which is why the data doesn't pass 30 weeks yet?

yes... 30 weeks also shows what the price cut did for the 3DS

Thanks for the info! This will be interesting to follow.

It would be incredibly stupid of Nintendo to buy Monster Hunter 4 exclusivity only to allow some other MH game to be made for the PSV, so I wouldn't hold my breath. Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid are up for grabs though, so maybe Sony can convince Square-Enix or Konami to make a big exclusive for a system that will take a long time to hit the two million mark in Japan.

I think Sony is willing to pay even more than Nintendo for this game. MH is no longer an investment for Sony, it's a strategical decision. They should pay what they can to have it, no matter how much money will be lost. Even Nintendo can't cover the price a desperate company is willing to pay for something it needs.

Don't think Sony can do that. Over the last couple years Sony has been seriously loosing money. They don't have the leisure to throw cash around like Microsoft.

Not going to be that way for long.

Their money troubles are getting much better with the inflating yen. Sony has said that they lose 6B yen for every 1 yen gain against the dollar. In the last month, it's dropped 6.4 yen. That's nearly 40B yen ie, 300 million dollars straight profit that Sony has made in a single month, if their statement was accurate.

Which means its loss would only be 6.1 billion dollars.

Sony has structural financial issues. It also sees gaming as a profit center rather than a loss leader.  So over zealous spending for properties is probably not in the cards.

Also, since the median starting age of a Sony handheld player is older than the median starting age for a Nintendo handheld player, it is much more adversely affects by other electronic devices (ie, smartphones).  Ninetendo gets them before they have phones and iPods.

What this shows me is that the 3DS started off very slowly, and the Vita is starting off even slower.

Still don't get why people were predicting it'd outsell the 3DS by a huge margin.

Agreed. The 3ds is doing very well and the games are starting to make an impact.

Oh, no doubt. Sony is way too cuttin edge for their own good. Some of the technologies they research and development are lik 15-20 years in the making, like bendable oleds, touch-feedback holographs, etc etc. They think they are government funded or something. Seriously! They act like they're raytheon or lockheed martin with the kinds of projects they work on.

They need to get back to things that are cheap and different.

Also, their tv business is really hurting them. They need to fix their problems there.

so PSP is a beast in the first 30 weeks

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

do we get a PSV price cut at E3.... or not?

I doubt it ...

but if it will get one, they have at least one customer more. Always wanted to get one, but wasnt willing to pay 350€ for it (wifi, mc, game)

How were distributed the adjustments on 3DS?
