Forums - Gaming Discussion - 343 Industries bashes VgChartz?

Tagged games:

According to this article Frank O'Connor from 343 Industries made a post in regards to recent Halo 4 statements claiming it would be the best looking game on Xbox 360.  Hidden in this post is a bash at what I assume is directed at the VgChartz community.

"Corrine is expressing pride in the team in a twitter character limit, mostly to her colleagues. At no time will you ever hear us 'officially' represent the game in those terms. So uncrank your hype handles a couple of turns.

He continued in a later post, “The best looking game could be anything. Geometry Wars is one of my favorite looking games. Forza. Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. Crysis. Gears. And let's not even send out a clarion call to Uncharted people.

This is not that other forum. We are not children. Accept she tweeted a note of pride in our team and move along.”"

I've heard of this NeoGaf x VgChartz thing before which I think is pretty childish. I hear stories of people who mention VgChartz in NeoGaf getting banned. So can anyone clarify why people seem to hate VgChartz? Do devs hate the fact that VgChartz has sales estimates available to the public exposing games as either blockbusters or flops? Or is it something else entirely?

That other forum is probably not referring to VG Chartz, or Neogaf.
It's just a way of saying, "this is not a biased forum".

VGChartz forum is not big enough to gather hate from a AAA studio, imo. And Neogaf is 10x (maybe 50x) bigger.

He was probably talking about /v/ or something.

I took it more as forum in the use of a public discussion place. Not an actual internet forum.

However even if it was an actual internet forum it could just as easily be gamefaqs, 2chan etc etc.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

From the way it sounds. I believe it was directed at msxbox-world.

No. Its directed at a forum, not a website.

Just searched around Google and found this http://www.ign.com/boards/threads/just-got-banned-from-neogaf.176352425/

"You have been banned for the following reason:
vgchartz gets their numbers from a very special space: ioi's ass

Date the ban will be lifted: Never"

Someone got this message as a reason for their ban from NeoGaf
Sounds like someone has something against ioi.

I'm not too sure why NeoGaf hates VGChartz, but I think we should all create accounts on the website and start a relentless VGChartz raid. Our plan would be to spread VGChartz power. We would attack in flurries. Once a day, at a specific time, ten members would create as many threads as they can hyping up VGChartz before they are banned. And once we are all banned, we will simply redo the process, again and again.

The world will fear VGChartz!

One major problem, GAF's registration is extreme takes between 6 months to 2 years....

Seems a bit childish. Anyway given how many adjustments VgChartz makes, I think the guys over at NeoGaf have a good reason to discourage VgChartz posts but perma-banning people for it is going way too far.
