Nope, don't have cable and only time I watch TV is when at other people's houses. I'll have to see if it is on Netflix instant stream. I've seen Nye on the History Channel talking about making your house more energy efficient.
Bill Nye!
mainly because i used to watch it in 3rd grade
it used to be so interesting to me as a kid
i still like Mythbusters though :)

Already knew it, Beakman's World was awesome thanks to the chemistry between Beakman and Lester, Bill Nye was boring in comparison.

Now that made me sad.
Wow Bill Nye is on top! I didn't think that would be the case but so far the votes are:
Bill Nye the Science Guy - 15
MythBusters - 12
Beakman's World - 2
I suppose there are a few more Bill Nye fans out there than I thought. Although most schools I believe showed some of his episodes for science class. I remember watching a few in Middle School / Junior High School.
spurgeonryan said: They are just saying that for nostalgic reasons. Mythbusters is the best. I liked Bill Nye as well, but it is kind of like saying JurrasicPark had better graphics than Avatar. Back then it was the best around, but does not compare to Avatar. Mythbuster: lots of fun, bigger tests, probably more episodes and on longer, and good cast. |
I'd say Jurassic Park was a lot more advance during its' time compared to other movies than Avatar was to recent movies. Nostalgia doesn't always mean something is over hyped though. I can go back and play some 8 and 16 bit games and have a blast. Probably have more fun than playing most current games. Ice Hockey (NES) anyone?
How about this thinking... I would say MythBusters is nothing more than an educated Jackass. Why? Because they do science related myths that technically no one should try at home. While fun to watch it provides no real engagement for someone really interested in science. Bill Nye however showed you experiments that you could preform at home and show your parents, friends, etc... That to me is a far better science program (especially for kids). That is why I said in the op maybe MythBusters needs an offshoot of the series where they actually do experiments that you can do at home.
I voted Mythbusters because they really make the experiments fun. But I want to go waaay back and nominate Mr. Wizard. That science show was on Nickelodeon back in the 80's.

Ah my parents didn't provide cable when I grew up (no big deal since I just played video games mainly) so I wasn't really exposed to that show. I am sure it was probably pretty good but since it wasn't on a free network it might have limited viewers (especially since not everyone had cable back then). I still don't even have cable nor watch regular TV anymore. Netflix ftw (no commercials)!
Basically, if you are wondering why I neglected that show it is because I had pretty much no recollection of it. I did watch the movie The Wizard on Netflix instant queue recently! I love the Power Glove. It's so bad.
