Forums - PC Discussion - Report: First games for Windows 8 Consumer Preview include Ms Splosion Man, Angry Birds

VG247

A source close to The Verge has provided a supposed list of the first games which will populate the Windows Store in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview build.

According to the source, Solitaire – as always, and Pinball will come pre-installed on Windows 8, with the additional Windows Store games available as optional downloads.

The Store will allow developers to submit free apps and games and charge between $1.49 and $999 with Microsoft taking 30% of the initial proceeds, and the 20% once the app or game reached $25,000 in sales.

Here’s the rumored list, and you’ll notice a couple high-profile titles in there:

  • Angry Birds
  • Crash Course
  • Full House Poker
  • Hydro Thunder
  • Ilomilo
  • Ms Splosion Man
  • Reckless Racing
  • Rocket Riot
  • Tentacles
  • Toy Soldiers
  • Wordament

A windows store? Haven't they tried that before? Will they block Steam out?

Don't know if they've tried it before, but I doubt very much they would ever block Steam or anything similar from being used. Microsoft does demand that "Metro" applications are sold through the Windows Store, but I don't see a lot of overlap between that and Steam anyway.

they have games for windows live which is a compettior to steam, but this is more aimed at itunes and android marketplace i believe. Windows unlike apple right now would not be allowed to close out another companies eco sytem do to their massive monoply on desktop based sytems. I wait for the day when apple is forced to do the same.

what a surprise to see Angry Bird on the list.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
