Forums - Gaming Discussion - My new theory on the release year of Versus XIII and FFXV.

... strange thread. Firstly you are assuming they set the exact same timeline for all games. Which simply wouldn't be true.

Secondly why do you have Kingdom hearts 1 and 2 as 2005? They weren't both 2005. It's actually 2002 then 2005

FFX-2 and FFXIII-2 are only 8 years apart if you simply look at year of release and ignore the actual times. March 2003 to December 2011 is 8 years 9 months. If there was that time between Kh2 and Versus it would put versus in 2014

Why are Dissidia, FF3 DS, FF: tactics A2 and gyromancer all missing? Those were all developed by either division 1, 3 or 4.

I simply don't understand the logic at work here at all. So 8 years is somehow magical?

While the year of release for Versus is probably right and possibly ff15 (although that would be very early in the next gens life cycle) I don't understand why you are saying it will be so because 8 years is the norm. Surely you should be saying it will be so because it makes sense with what we know. Although if Versus launches that late it is in trouble, going up against Wii U games and possibly 720/PS4 games.

Final Fantasy 9 and FF 12 both did this. FF9 was released when PS2 was out, and FF12 released a few weeks before PS3, and after Xbox 360.

That's kind of my point. Both FF9 and FF12 saw massive drop offs in sales compared to the previous titles. And they had the advantage of being main entries in the series, which Versus XIII doesn't have.

FF8 to FF9      - 7.86m to 5.3m
FF10 to FF12 - 8.05m to 5.95m

Both games simply released too late imo. Both of the games normal hype was diminshed by being lost in PS2 hype then Wii,360,PS3 hype.

Turkish says and I'm allowed to quote that: Uncharted 3 and God Of War 3 look better than Unreal Engine 4 games will or the tech demo does. Also the Naughty Dog PS3 ENGINE PLAYS better than the UE4 ENGINE.

So next-gen will be more interesting 10 years for 1 game?
Are they bankrupted yet?

SE should not relase a main tilte FF game every year, 2 years, or 3. They need to let the anticipation build. FF14 was rushed to release and we all saw what happened. They can make spin-offs, new IPs, and other games in the meantime as they been doing in the last 12 years.

If the quality is good, I wouldn't mind one every 2/3 years.

Pretty cool find
