Forums - Sony Discussion - Guerrilla Games Working On Killzone 4, New IP and Killzone PS Vita Rumored.

According to an source Guerilla Games is working on a new Killzone title that will work its way to either the end of the PS3's life or to Sony's future console. We were all certain Killzone 3 was the last entry in the series but it looks like that is not the case. Good news on the other hand is that Guerilla Games is also working on a new IP, about time right. Here are tidbits regarding their upcoming titles.

"Well it looks like Guerrilla Games is hard at work these days. An inside source of ours has informed us that they are hard at work on the next iteration of Killzone. It isn’t known whether or not Killzone 4 will be a PS3 or PS4 title. There are a ton of jobs posted on GG’s site now and among the many artist jobs lies a Multiplayer Designer position which requires FPS experience. There could very well be an announcement at E3 with an early 2013 release for PS3. We’ll keep you updated on that.

In other Guerrilla news we discovered that a new IP is in the works. This can also be found on their website on the front page. One wonders if this second IP is another FPS game or something entirely different. Either way it’s exciting to know that they are working hard to keep those games coming.

Lastly in Killzone news, there’s a rumor that a PS Vita Killzone game is in the works. I’m not sure if GG is the team that’s handling the mobile version, but given the similarities between the PS3 and the Vita, I’m sure they could have a mobile off shoot of their blockbuster FPS up and running in no time.

As always, take these rumors with a grain of salt. Whatever you can find on their site is FACT. Like the fact that they are looking for someone with DirectX experience(hmmm). Whatever we dig up for you comes from credible sources but treat it as a rumor until it’s official."

I hope they make the multiplayer like Killzone 2. We all know how Killzone 3 turned out : /

Killzone Vita isn't a rumor. I remember seeing a trailer around either E3 last year or the unveiling of the system last January.

Do you mean awesome! ?

.

Megh, I'd rather have them fully move onto another IP than work on KZ4.

Around the Network

Wouldn't mind KZ4 as a launch title.

Nice to know their continuing the series and not dumping it like Insomniac did with Resistance.

Some of us would much prefer an original IP. You can't tell me your attached to the characters or story can you? So what's the point? They can always resurrect it later.

Vita Killzone isn't a rumor, and Sony cambridge is making it. KZ4 and the new IP are pretty expected too. But I hope they make KZ4 and early ps4 title.

The same point why Nintendo's been successful with their own franchises.

Either ways, I've never played Killzone except for Liberation on PSP and it was awful lol.

Just stating maybe the reason why their franchises arent as appealing as Nintendo's is because people arent accustomed to their franchises because Sony makes a new IP and throws away old IPs every 5-6 years.

(Not saying its a bad thing to make new IPs, just putting aside old franchises and making new ones all the time pretty much takes them back to the drawing board)

Nintendo releases a new Mario/Zelda/Metroid only once or twice per gen.

If Guerilla makes a completely new IP then it doesn't mean that they are throwing away Killzone. I rather think it would be better to release (some of) the established franchises once overy 3/4 years and work on original stuff the rest of the time.

Since when are Sony throwing away old IP's? The fact that they are building an impressive catalogue of franchises slowly over time is a massive strength of the PS brand.

For instance, there hasn't been a new Jak and Daxter game this gen, but it is very possible that they release one for the PS4 along with a new Uncharted. A team like Naughty dog (since they have 2 teams now) can do the following (for instance):

2013,  New Jak and Daxter(PS4 launch game)

2014, Original IP (PS4)

2015, New Uncharted (PS4)

2016, New The Last of Us (PS4)

Now doesn't that look like a promising plan? It incorporates both existing IP's and original one's as well.
