GT Academy 2012 Round 3: SKYLINE GT-R V・spec II (GT Academy) '94

Try taking on a variety of corners in the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II.

The Skyline GT-R is a 4WD (four-wheel drive) vehicle in which all four wheels of the car are driven by the engine. Compared to two-wheel drives, 4WD cars show very high acceleration performance and superior stability. However at racing speed it is more prone to 'understeer', a condition where the car will slide outwards in a corner. Feel the difference from the FR (front engine, rear wheel drive) Silvia you've been driving.

The trick to driving through repeating corners quickly lies in synchronizing your steering and accelerator control. Keep in mind to turn the steering as you decelerate, and return the steering as you accelerate.

  • Rotary Corner in the Madrid City Course
  • S Curve at Suzuka Circuit
  • Continuous Corners with Elevation Changes
  • Variations of Corners
  • High-Speed Section; Maintaining Stability

GT Academy 2012 Round 4: 370Z (GT Academy) '08

You’ll now be using Nissan’s popular sports car, the 370Z, to take on a highly-technical cornering section.
When faced with a section made up of a number of multiple-radius corners, you need to focus on exiting the final corner with the highest speed possible. So don’t concentrate on how fast you can take each corner separately; rather, make sure you concentrate on taking the ideal line for the last corner.

Using all of the grip available from your tires is the trick to driving fast. You don’t need to be flashy by sliding the rear end out and drifting the car, but instead, don’t allow the tires to lose their grip.

  • Nürburgring, 'Kallenhard'
  • Low Speed S Curve with Changing Radius
  • S Curves 2
  • Suzuka Circuit, 'Spoon Curve'
  • Monza Circuit, 'Variante Ascari' - 'Parabolica'

GT5 Seasonal Event & GT Academy 2012 Rankings Available in New iPhone App

GTPlanet community member Calcifer has just launched an interesting new mobile application for iOS devices that should come in handy for any Gran Turismo 5 player or GT Academy 2012 participant on the go.

Available for free in the iOS App Store, the app lets you easily view the top 250 ranked times for each GT5 Seasonal Event and for each GT Academy 2012 time trial. Even better, you can sign in to your PSN account to see your friend’s times, and even view your own time for the event, including the next 10 faster and 5 slower drivers around you – a feature that’s not even available on Polyphony Digital’s own website!

To download the free app, click here, or just search “rankings for gran turismo” in the App Store on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.

Thanks to Calcifer to for creating and sharing this app with the community! To get in touch with him or share feedback or bug reports, visit his forum topic here.

FF Challenge Comes to GT5′s Seasonal Events, Introduces “Performance Difference Bonus”

Polyphony Digital diverts from their usual pattern with the latest GT5 Seasonal Event, featuring FF cars with no more than 430PP.

However, keep in mind that due to the new “Performance Difference Bonus” introduced in update 2.06, cars with a lower PP value will receive greater reward. Here’s closer look at the races:

Now that's customer service. I love that they actually take people's comments into consideration to improve the game.
