Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii RPGs, Which Ones?

guys above mentioned most of them
I'd say if Little King's Story is considered as an RPG is one of the best on Wii

Tales of Symphonia 1st game is my best of all time, 2nd one is great as well

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

Get the Last Story when it releases next year

How could I forget?  I'm a Hironobu Sakaguchi fan.

Honestly the last few years I havent looked at the Zelda series as a "RPG" series. Anyways, here's a RPG list for the Wii

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Echoes of Time (I do not see Crystal Bearers as a RPG)
Monster Hunter 3G (Not an RPG, just RPG like)
Rune Factory (All of them)
Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World
Xenoblade Chronicles
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn
Phantom Brave We Meet Again
Arc Rise Fantasia
The Last Story
Super Paper Mario (if you consider it one)

Nintendo dropped the ball on this generation, they could of made or worked more on bringing RPGs on to their console....

Now the list is complete.

Good Wii RPGs I've played:
Arc Rise Fantasia
Muramasa: the Demon Blade
Fragile Dreams
Super Paper Mario

Bad Wii RPGs I've played:
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.

EDIT: Zelda is not an RPG.

Yes, I'm very aware that Zelda is NOT an RPG.  Some think that, and I mentioned it to help ensure no one suggests it to me.  I do have Fragile Dreams, and Muramasa is on my Amazon Wish list.  Arc Rise Fantasia, I'll look into it.

Tales of Vesperia is one of the better RPGs on the Wii, its definitely something you may want to invest on actually. Plus Monster Hunter Tri, one of the best games on the Wii itself.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT get Arc Rise Fantasia, the english voice acting in the game alone is enough to stop someone from purchasing the game. Here's an example:

Unless you can find an Undubbed version, which I don't know even exists, plus the game is extremely mediocre at best. I normally don't care too much about voice acting and stuff, but this one takes the cake of the worst VA I have heard EVER.

Wait until Xenoblade (unless you are in the EU like me ;) ), the last story and pandora's box (dont know if the last one is an RPG though).

In addition to the games already mentioned you should check out Virtual Console for gems like Ogre Battle, Secret of Mana and Super Mario RPG among others.

I almost just came after reading those words.

^ Oh ya forgot about "The Last Story", cant wait to get that.

I dont consider Super Paper Mario as a RPG.

It has RPG elements but I would consider it more of a Platform/Action/RPG.  I might as well throw in a couple more genres while I am at it.   3D Puzzle

Dude...  Why??!

I don't know what you mean exactly by "why". If you mean as to why I informed you about the game's, ehhh, shortcomings then thats because I couldn't just see a fellow gamer spend £30 (or $40 whatever the game costs in your currency) just to acquire some kind of chronic ear infection and potentially go deaf. Also I personally couldn't believe so many people were actually recommending the game having played the game themselves, I mean did they mute their TV or what? Anyway, as I said, just invest in Tales of Symphonia or Monster Hunter Tri, both of which are decent RPGs on Wii.

@BasilZero Sorry dude I meant Symphonia (I keep on saying Vesperia, the 360 RPG). But yea I agree, the battle system on Arc Rise Fantasia is very cut and dry, there's nothing interesting about it at all. I think the story had some premise (even though its a traditional JRPG story at best) but they just had to make it extremely dull with a dated battle system and terrible VA.

As for Tales of Graces, if they ever localised it on the Wii (I don't have a PS3) over in EU I would have given it a try probably. I just love JRPGs but there hasn't been much thats beyond mediocre on the Wii until recently.

Monster Hunter Tri
Rune Factory: Frontier
Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

Fragile Dreams

Whatever you do stay away from Arc rise Fantasia.
