Forums - Gaming Discussion - What Black Friday Gaming Deals Did You Get?

What kind of deals did you get thanks to Black Friday for gaming?

I got Batman: Arkham City for $29 with the classic cartoon Batman skin and Lord of the Rings: War in the North for $39.99.

Thanks USA for Black Friday. Thanks to you we have it in Canada now to =)

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.

Canada never had Black Friday??

So now Canada is the best as we have BOTH Black Friday and Boxing Day! :D

My PS3 got YLOD today. So I went ahead and bought the $199 bundle. It feels so awesome to buy a new PS3 that cheap!

The US has Boxing Day too...  but instead of exchanging boxes on that day, we usually take them back to the store!

OT:  I got Forza 4 and Gears 3 for $28 at Walmart (they were sold out of Arkham City and BF3 when I got there or I woulda grabbed those too), and I ended up getting BF3 Limited Edition at GameStop for $40 since every store that had BF3 on sale was sold out of standard copies.

I was really hoping that somebody would have a BF deal for Skyrim... only deals were get a $10 giftcard at Target for paying full price, and Amazon currently has it for a whopping $7 off.  I'm so glad I had no intentions of buying a console, as the BF 360, Wii and PS3 bundles all flew off shelves.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

To be honest Boxing Day is nothing special. I walk into a store on that day and everything is the same price.

I bought Uncharted 3 and Batman: Arkham City for a total of $58.00 dollars on Amazon today. It's a shame there was no good Skyrim deals.

  • Deus Ex: HR - $20 (actually $30, but I had reward money from Best Buy)
  • Red Dead Redemption GOTY edition - $30
  • GTAIV complete - $25
  • Uncharted 3 - $30 (got it from a lightning deal at Amazon; it sold out in seconds!)

Was thinking of getting Dark Souls for $35, but decided not to.

Sonic Generations for PS3 - $30
Dark Souls PS3 - $35
Spiderman Shattered Dimensions PS3 - $15
LEGO Star Wars III and LEGO Pirates of Caribbean PS3 - $28 (used from Gamefly)
ICO/SotC Collection - $25

Not yet, only a few retailers offered sales this year. Also the ones that did didn't offer all of the same deals they did in America.

EBGames and ToysRus are the two Canadian retailers I thought of checking out. But both stores didn't have the games I wanted or movies. So I still had to go south, Best Buy and Future Shop both have weekend sales this weekend but they aren't on par with Americas. Unfortunately I think it will be another two or so years before Canada completely catches up. I hear Boxing Day is moving south more and more each year as well. Hopefully in a few years Canada will have amazing Black Friday's like the US, the US will have amazing Boxing Days like Canada.

Ummm yah I got way to carried away, fortunately my credit cards were both frozen. They thought that the cards had been stolen so both Capital One and CIBC froze my accounts. If they hadn't I probably would have started buying more gifts, I had just finished shopping for myself and was starting to look for gifts.... Man I'm so screwed financially!

I also had bought stuff on behalf of two friends which brought my bill much higher but both of them will repay me and those items aren't really mine. This is a perfect example of someone poor buying every movie and game they want all dirt cheap for affordable prices. In fact my credit card use had been an average of 50$ a week and I had only bought two games and no movies in the last six months, I waited for Black Friday so I could buy everything cheap.

Dude Mythe do you do your research and hit multiple stores on Boxing Day? I can say last year I spent 700$ on boxing day and I saved over 1,500$. I got some movies and games cheaper then they were on Black Friday. You just have to do your research and line up early, if you get into the store right when it opens and you know exactly which stores to go to and when you can save a fortune.

Also while a lot of the same deals come on Boxing Day, their are others that never came on Black Friday. I remember back when TP had come out it was 19.99$ brand new on GameCube from Zellers months after release, as was SSX and other titles. Movies and TV series are amazingly cheap I picked up every season of 24 for 8.99$ ea and same went for Two and Half Men.

You just need to do some research, also remember Best Buy Canada price matches on Boxing Day. No other retailer does so hit them first because if you bring your flyers from all the other stores you don't have to fight over the few copies. Then if Best Buy doesn't have them in stock head for your second chance at the actual retailer.
