Forums - Sales Discussion - Was Zack & Wiki for the Wii a flop?

Kinda sad really. It is a good game, I know I have it. They just didn't advertise it well.

If you have a Wii you really should pick up this game. Rent it first if you don't believe me.

indeed a good game. got it as a gift, then bought it as a gift for someone.

the Wii is an epidemic.

It's at about 160k without Europe. I think Capcom wished for more, but I don't think it'll lose them money. The sequal comes, not because of the sales of the first one, but because Z&W has become known as a quality game. That's going to benefit the sequal, especially in Japan.

I think as someone put it Capcom realise that it takes a while to get a new IP up and running off the ground. If this games sells say 400K + (massive if I know) by the time a 2nd is released then due to the high quality and general feelings about this being the most underrated game on the Wii then 90% of those 400K will buy the second I feel.

Capcom probably had the same hurdles with Phoenix Wright but they know that if they stick with it then they could have one of the very few Wii third Party successfull IP's on their hands. The Company that gave us Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Phoenix Wright and many more know what they're doing and know how to build upon success with sequels.

Those people that think they're perfect give a bad reputation to us who are...

"With the DS, it's fair to say that Nintendo stepped out of the technical race and went for a feature differentiation with the touch screen, but I fear that it won't have a lasting impact beyond that of a gimmick - so the long-lasting appeal of the platform is at peril as a direct result of that." - Phil Harrison, Sony

the game is great. I love it. The one criticism I have is that it gets insane in terms of difficulty during the last part. Considering this is supposed to be a game for all ages, it's too hard.

Adventure games are the easiest and least expensive games to produce. Maybe the Motion controller implementation added some to the budget, but I'm quite sure Zack&Wiki is already making a profit. And to the people saying it flopped, putting it on PS3/Xbox360 would be something to watch :P

actually it's not doing sooo bad, it's still selling it's it's not yet out in europe....

160k and still to be released in Europe ain't that bad for a 'not so much costing'-title...

Better then Viewtiful Joe on Gamecube did (also Capcom property)... But i think a lot of devs will eventually break even or make profit on the Wii because the games have long legs due to high Hardware sell through (heck: I'll even dare say that N!ghts on Wii will end up with a profit!)

THE NETHERLANDS

Wait.. they're already doing a sequel? Didn't know that. :p Good news. And well, I don't serioulsy believe Capcom could be surprised by Z&W's low sales. I mean, they didn't advertise at all, did they?

 2008 Predictions:

Wii: 44 Million
Xbox360: 25 Million
PS3: 22 Million

DS: 90 Million
PSP: 37 Million

All i heard is good praise from this game and well i will defntly buy it when its out in PAL

So in the end it should make a decent profit in the long run for capcom.

Heres hoping they advertise the 2nd title!!
