Forums - General Discussion - Bilingual people: What language do you *think* in??

haha, chill whisperer. No need to end this with insults. That's usually a sign of losing a debate.

The last few posts, you've been back peddling through points I've already made. No need to state them, but I'm glad I educated you some.

This argument is over.

@OP
Despite knowing 3 languages myself, I think 99% of the time in English.

Listen man.

1. There is no possible mistake in that the quote says Einstein used concepts and not words, only with effort could he used word to communicate. If you don't want to see that, then whatever, but the proof is there and it's very, very clear. Spin it however you like, you know you have nothing. Don't change the subject.

2. Do you seriously want to be a scientist? Really??? I mean, do you know how science works? You don't prove something by disproving something else. You said that I'm wrong but not only you don't provide anything to prove I'm wrong. You don't provide anything to prove your own point. Where's the evidence that you need words to think? Give it to me. I gave you evidence. What kind of lousy scientist doesn't give any proof? I hope you're joking and you know that's not how scientific method works.

3. You may think you're an 'expert', but I'm actually a  language teacher and I know how languages work, so don't pretend you're an expert because I am more so than you in this field.

4. You give me proof that you lost and that you're frustrated when you say things like 'hoho, I owned you, I'm going to sleep', even though you had nothing. Are you a scientist or a 5 year old child? This just proves that your frustation and that you know you're cornered and have no way out. In no moment did I act like that. Man up, chill out, acccept defeat.

5. You made no sense whatoever. You're not even paying attention. You gave crappy examples. I mean, look at your example a few pages back: 'If I told you I can't picture images, would you believe me?', when that's not what I argued at all. You don't even know of what you're talking about, you can't even grasp (or don't want to) what I'm saying, or you just say things without thinking just because you want to be right.

You had nothing on me and that's why you want to finish the conversation. You have nothing to back you're argument, you're just desperately and unsuccessfully trying to disprove what I provided, and now you want to pretend you leave in a good position. Face it like a man and not like a kid, you have nothing. No proof for your case, no disproof for mine. Nothing.

1-How many times do I have to tell you. Why is it that this simple point I made over and over again rolls over your brain. I know concept thinking exists. I know that Einstein was one of them, but that doesn't mean he didn't use words to think either. He even admitted to that in his quote. The part you deliberately left out last night.

I'm kind of losing touch with what exactly you are trying to prove me wrong on. My argument is simple: There is no way a human being can not use words to think if they speak one language. You are now switching that argument into "you don't believe abstract thinking is true at all!" Go back to my posts and provide me with one instance where I said abstract thinking doesn't exist. What I did do, was call you out for claiming you never use words to think unless you are dealing with readings. I'm not spinning anything, you've lost touch with which I'm accusing you of. I never changed the subject, you are simply diverting what the real discussion was all about to begin with.

2- Although I said "Educator in Science," I'll ignore that fact because it will side track the real discussion.  You provided links, and I thank you for that, however, that just proves that those thinkers are predominately visual thinkers, a point I concur with - a point I repeated dozens of times - a point you seem to simply ignore because that's where your argument will end as soon as you admit to it. What I'll find interesting, is if you can find me a link to an article, experiment, that proves there are people out there that can speak, are not mute, deaf or blind, who think purely abstractly. Only then will I believe such cases exist.

3- I never claimed to be a professional at anything, I'm just passionate about education. I've been taught to learn and understand different styles of learning, thinking. I've been taught to understand that some people are unique and strong in certain areas of thinking. I've been taught to acknowledge and cater to all styles of thinking because they exist in everyone at different levels. Never was I taught that a speaking human being can think without words. You claim you never think with words. I find that to be bullshit. I'm sorry. I just don't believe it.

4-Not even going to respond to that. Unlike you, I'm not worked up about this discussion. Although I will on that last bit  in 5 ... I am right, you can think with words, you're not special.

I'm not special, it's pretty normal.

No proof still... you have nothing to back what you say up.
