Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Having games hit the most wanted list is a good thing, but these games have to actually generate sales when they're released. If I remember correctly Gundam Musou was pretty highly ranked on the most wanted chart and Koei thought the game could sell 2 Million units; so far it has sold 250,000.

No need to talk about hope or hopeless situation. No drama here. PS3 will gain momentum. I think new NPD data will give us some hint about present situation. I think gap between PS3 and X would be much smaller than last month. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony sold more units.

Edit:

On the other hand  you've been talking only about situation in Japan... khem... hope most welcome

Considering there are only 800k PS3 owners, 260k units in 6 weeks is okay is it not.

I would like to see the NPD sales too if the PS3 have not gained little momentum during mars it dont know what would help it till Q3 when the big titles come. There is no good releases in April/May. I am pretty sure that games like MGS4,RE5 and FFXIII will move alot of hardware you cant compare those with Gundam masou title :D

I would have expected this to start later but I believe all companies will start to follow this trend. And this is just to keep the core users in mind. Evry platform seems to have specific tastes thaat goes along with its best selling titles. The PS3 isn't done for at all... this only the beginning.

In fact there are 7 games out of the top twenty  ,as FFXIII Versus is a PS3 game and in the list is incorrectly put as a PS2 game .

Saw that article before, its quite interesting. What I believe it really means is:

 - the Wii / PS2 will get our big selling, license franchises (current-gen)

 - the PS3/360 will get our big budget, risky, next-gen titles

If anything, it may be a blow to the PS3/360 - as games they would normally expect to get - they are not getting (whereas games the Wii wouldn't expect to get - isn't getting anyway :>)

Sorry, but it's barely relevant. Famitsu did a poll of the best games of 2006 and it didn't even come close to matching the sales charts. It reflect only a small demographic's opinion in the JPN game market.

Gundam Musou was #1 on the list too.  It may have sold 250k out of 800k PS3 owners, but the hardware sales were not very impressive.
