darendt said: Uncharted and Ratchet should have made that list for sure. Warhawk and Resistance were also excellent games. Mario Galaxy is a very fun game, but I wouldnt put it past most of the games I listed above. Gamespot is just very anti PS3 to begin with. They are very pro M$ which is why the winner surprises me, but the fact the PS3 didnt even make there list doesnt. |
Resistance was a decent launch game at best. If it were released today I guarantee that it would have scored at least 5 points lower. The only reason the game even sold well is because there was nothing else for a very long time.
Actually, to end all this, lets just look at the scores for the nominees and then the games people keep whining about that should be on the list:
(Gamerankings score followed by Gamespot score)
Bioshock - 95.3 / 9.0
Call of Duty 4 (360) - 94.4 / 9.0
Crysis - 91 / 9.5
Forza Motorsport 2 - 90 / 9.2
God of War II - 92.6 / 9.2
Halo 3 - 93.3 / 9.5
Rock Band (360) - 93.3 / 9.0
Super Mario Galaxy - 97.3 / 9.5
The Orange Box (360) - 96.3 / 9.5
World in Conflict - 89.2 / 9.5
Now if you look at those games, you'll notice that they all have something in common: Gamespot rated each of those games above a 9 and all of them except World in Conflict have a 90+ rating on Gamerankings.
Lets look at the PS3 games now:
Call of Duty 4 (PS3) - 93.7 / 9.0
Rock Band (PS3) - 90.6 / 9.0
The Orange Box (PS3) - 82.8 / 9.0
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune - 89.6 / 8.0
Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction - 89.0 / 7.5
Resistance: Fall of Man - 86.9 / 8.6
Warhawk - 84.4 / 8.5
Would you look at that! The games that are multiplatform are consistently lower than the 360 versions on Gamerankings and they are all lower on Gamespot except CoD4. For the PS3 exclusives, none of them are 9+ games on Gamerankings or Gamespot.
So there you have it. That's why there are no PS3 games on that list: they are either worse than their 360 counterpart or the games just aren't as good as some of the other games that came out this year.
Now because you start saying I'm a biased fanboy piece of shit, remember these are all opinions so of course not everyone is going to agree. I have absolutely nothing against PS3 games at the moment but it's pretty plain and easy to see they don't compare to the better games this year. I'm not saying the PS3 games are bad, far from it, it's just they aren't as good as the best games. Saying the PS3 games are bad because they didn't get nominated is like saying a football team isn't any good because it didn't make it to the Superbowl. The team may be perfectly good, they just aren't good enough to be the best.
