Forums - Nintendo - RUMOR Nintendo next console manufactured by October.

http://www.bgr.com/2011/05/04/hon-hai-to-build-nintendos-wii-2-nintendo-to-take-delivery-beginning-in-october/

"Terry Gou’s Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. is said to have landed an exclusive contract to build Nintendo’s next-generation video game console. According to a report on Wednesday from Taiwan Economic News, Hon Hai could begin shipping the Wii 2 to Nintendo as soon as this coming October. Nintendo’s Wii console had consistently been a best seller for the gaming giant, but interest has finally begun to dwindle as competitive offerings pick up steam despite their age. Nintendo’s Wii 2 is said to be a direct attack the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and it will supposedly feature AMD’s new Radeon R700 GPU for outstanding graphics performance and HD video capabilities. With a rumored retail price between $350 and $450, the console may also be much more expensive than Nintendo’s current Wii console. A Wii 2 that lines up with these rumors would be an interesting move for Nintendo, which has found tremendous success with an inexpensive console aimed at more casual gamers compared to its competitors."

In prep for March/April 2012 launch?

Would seem appropriate. Let Wii have some space for a last holiday and post-holiday (and let 3DS have space more importantly) then move at that point

1. No one calls it that anymore.  We know it as Foxconn.

2. The R700 isn't new.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

I don't think Nintendo will launch their next platform early 2012. I would give it a 25% chance with a 75% chance that Nintendo will launch it fall or winter 2012. Given the articles two mistakes unless it was written by the VGChartz member himself casts alot of this report into doubt.

I think Nintendo might start manufacturing in October its possible, but I doubt it. It would be far to early to manufacture a unit coming out an entire year later. Unless Nintendo decides to break with tradition. Since the N64 Nintendo has released their home consoles in fall/winter in North America. I doubt Nintendo will deviate from that much. I think the Wii will get one last boost in the arm at E3 with a couple last Nintendo titles. It will be like GameCube's last year on market , very little software.

But again I doubt that Nintendo will begin manufacturing in October unless they intend to launch in spring 2012 which I highly doubt. I won't completely write the possibility off but its doubtful!

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Wow.. just wow.

Is Nintendo giving its ninjas vacation time or what?

Either way, I feel as though Nintendo is teetering left and right.

Pixel Art can be fun.

If Foxconn can ship consoles by October, and asuming that Nintendo will launch N6 on the 1º quarter (so in March), that 'd mean 6 months of production to have "some" stockpiles.

Not unreasonable.

Oct. 2012 is ~18 months after the complete launch of the 3DS. The N6 release will probably be accompanied by a 3DS price drop to $199.99.
