Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Nintendo descending into hell?

This is a serious question. I noticed that everything seems to not be working very well for Nintendo, they put all of their eggs in the 3DS basket and now it's not certain that will pan out very well. So what do you think? Is Nintendo in for a very difficult time?

No, they just need software

DS its first year was actually pretty slow selling

I'm not even worried for Nintendo or the 3DS.

History shows that time is of the essence for a new system to plant it's seed in the consumer society.

With great games come great success.

Wait for Ocarina of Time to launch. Then we talk.

We went through that same spiral od disappointment with the PS3/N64 and waiting for past huge series to come and sell the console like crazy.

It doesn't really happen though, sure you see a sales spike but it doesn't last for long, you need a sustained boost in sales.

A New IP or a reinvention of a franchise which turns into a phenomenon is what will sell the system like crazy (Wii sports, Wii Fit, GTA3, GT1, Pokemon Red).

Well it depends on the games, games like NSMB, Mario Kart, Pokemon, etc. create sustained sales these are evergreen titles and have consistently shown ther ability to move consoles like crazy, OoT isn't going to be one of those games, neither is 3D Mario
