Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Is Alan Wake complete without the DLC?

As the subject ask, is Alan Wake ending a reasonable conclusion without the purchase of the DLC?

I'm not a big fan of DLC in general and have no intention of getting any unless i REALLY love the game.

I do not REALLY love Alan Wake, it looks like a decent game and since I am an avid collector and can be obtain it for fairly cheap with free shipping, I thought I'd give it a try.

My only problem is the ending, I've heard several reviews decribe the ending as 'lacking' and then later I heard that the DLC are actually happening after the of the game and 'concludes it' in preperation for the sequal (if one becomes availible).

Sooo.... If I have no intention of ever getting the 2 dlc, should I still be able to tolerate the on-disk ending? Please bear in mind that this is a pretty important criteria, if the ending was absolutely bullshit like Kane & Lynch 2 for example, or like Prince of Persia where the 'true' ending can only be obtain through a DLC (screw you epilogue!) then I don't feel like bothering with this game

Thanks people!

pretty sure one of the DLC comes with all copies of the game...if that helps you any.  i have the game, but have not played past first chapter yet.

:/ I'm kinda hoping for someone that finished the game to give comment. I can anyone confirm the DLC extra for a UK version? Or is the US only?

I got it on saturday for £15 new from game and the DLC code for 'The Signal' was in the box.

or do like me, include the DLC price in your purchase price... and like that you only get the game if it's at 8£....

I hate DLC ^^

Yes and no.

I think you can figure out the ending without the DLC. But the DLC confirms it and gives a more satisfying ending.

Personally, I loved the game and say its worth playing with or without DLC.

Damn :( The main reason I'm not really into the DLC atm is because I have 360 with very little HD space left. I don't want to add 2 more DLC to it... I don't want to ruin the ending for myself so I'll leave it at this. Thanks for the opinion, I'll probably sleep on it.

It's complete without both DLC. There is nothing new story oriented in those DLC but they are very good so it's worth playing them.

I'm not sure if I would say it's incomplete as athough it continues the story you're not really in that different of a place from where it started however the DLC is pretty much the two best chapters of the game, so if you liked the game I'd really recommend playing them

Thank you. this was my main concern, if the DLC had only been side story I wouldn't have worried, but as they are continuation I would hate to have plot relevant stuff that needs to be told left over AFTER the game was finished in the form of DLC.

@Shorty: I am not hugely interested in the game, you can tell because it took me this long to pick it up, the price right now is just right for me and more importantly, I am avid collector of 'good game' which I even have the remotest interest of, so it will sit on my shelf for a long time after my purchase but I'll get to  eventually.

Thanks again for your input guys.

I think I order this on the weekend.
