According to VGChartz, it had 7.1million at this point, while PS3 has 7.7million.

7.1 was launch up until Dec 17 of last year for 360. 

The PS3 will hit 8 million this month, while the 360 didnt hit that until earlier this year. Am I correct in saying that?

ill break it down for em at this point last year 360 was at 7.1 worldwide.. as you can see on the front page the ps3 is at 7.7..

This is an incredibly dangerous topic...

You can compare PS3 sales to the sales of other consoles if you want, but remember it launched at a price 3x the price of Dreamcast, which suggests sales could be 3x the sales of Dreamcast at a comparable price, in which case 30 million becomes a realistic base, and it will likely be higher.

Don't put this in the Sony forum either, it belongs in the sales or general gaming arena.

Yea , but he knows that ,that's why he said "at this point in its life" - the PS3 still is 260k behind (210k if you count in the 50k from japan last week , which still are not added) after 58 weeks , but it will pass the 360 next week in their respective lauch to 59th week sales .. the 360k is in front right now , because it's christmas spike is 2 weeks earlier (it released 2 weeks later into the year than the PS3).
