Wow. How is that possible? I thought it was the worst FF until FFXII came along.

I actually enjoyed Suikoden IV a lot, but I agree with you, Suikoden V is way better |
I guess Im a weird kind of JRPG fan.
FFX sucks (but less than XII) - FFVI is my favorite game ever
Suikoden IV sucks - Suikoden II is my 2nd favorite game ever
Kingdom hearts was ok. The 2nd I didnt even finish cause I didnt like it at all.
There is something wrong with me.

Odin Sphere is probably the most "japanese" of all the games listed above. It is a fanstic Action RPG and it is Atlus in whom you can never go wrong. Best two Dev/Publishers on the PS2 for RPGs is easily Atlus and NIS for your pure "anime" feel RPGs. |
Completely agree with you there. Atlus are a fantastic developer and pretty much one of the best developers overall, not only in the RPG department.
I've been with them since BlaZeon and they've yet to do a game that was a big disappointment to me.

You sir....have no soul
FFXII is my second favourite FF game, and it's probably, on par with FFIV, the only two FF's to ever come close to the grandeur that is FFVI.
I feel ashamed and outraged at that comment

Yes! Besides perhaps Blizzard, no other company can say they have never disappointed me.
The thing is, is it odd that my FAVORITE part of Atlus games is the Music?
Hell, I own 3 copies of Persona 3. P3P, Persona 3 and Persona 3:FES. If they brought out a DS version, I would buy that too. Cannot think of any other game Id buy on all the different consoles I own, besides an Atlus game.

They make some pretty darn good OST's. I love how they put out editions with a separate CD with the game's OST, when all other developers would try to use the OST as cash cows.
Demon's Souls main theme is my cellphone ring, alarm clock ring and Persona 4's Backside of the TV is my second favourite VG song x)

Its quite a feat to start that sentence so low and end in such a high note.
FF XII, shouldnt be in the same sentence as FF VI or IV.

It has every right to be put in the same sentence
To me FFXII was at the same time epic and challenging, because unlike most people who seemed to disregard the fact that the gambit system had a big yellow ON or OFF icon in the menu bar, I played it the way a FF game is meant to be played.
Only the superbosses of FFV gave me more trouble than the superbosses of FFXII and even the overall game was tough if you played it in the no gambit way.
Also (if you disregard Vaan and Penello, because they have virtually 0 revelance to the game, other than to be mere symbolisms of Dalmasca's refusal to give in to Archadia's imperial ways), the story had some epic contourns, especially Basch's and Gabranth's blood feud, Venat's motives and the entire Occurian lore.

Since you're just on X-mas break, I'm not sure if you'll have time for all 5 games. (Well, if it's a generous college, maybe?) But this is the order I'd do them in:
-Odin Sphere. It's a great game, and as others said, you can't go wrong with Atlus!
-Suikoden 4. It's considered by many to be the weakest link in the mainline series, but even still, its weak point is massively better than some other game you brought...
-Disgaea. If this game sucks you up, you're stopping here. And even if you don't do item worlds, it's still a great little game.
-Kingdom Hearts. At this point, we're really at the 'meh' games. The action aspects make it different, but if you're looking for more traditional, this really won't do well.
-FFX, well... that's dead-weight. I've tried playing that game. Twice. I just could not be held by it. The story was drab, the mechanics too lose, the game too easy, and the minigames frankly suck. Add in its linearity (not as bad as 13, but close), and it's just not fun to play.
-dunno001
-On a quest for the truly perfect game; I don't think it exists...

I agree, I want to know who said that, I'll know to take their opinion with a ton of salt haha. Yeah worst FF till FF12 came along.
