Forums - Nintendo Discussion - *Prediction__Pikmin 3 during Wii dry spell*

Around July 2010 Miyamoto said that even if they did release Pikmin now it probably wouldn't sell because of so many other games releasing during Holiday 2010...so he is obviously worried about the sales potential of Pikmin 3. This causes me to think that the game is near complete and they are just holding it off until a dry spell occurs and in the mean time they will polish the game up. In my opinion Pikmin 3 has a good chance of releasing in Summer 2011.

I always wondered if this game was reluctantly made because it seems Miyamoto, because of the gaming media during E3 2008, was forced to say the game is in development. This makes me believe he or whoever is making it had reluctantly made this game right after E3 2008. But if this is true, I don't know why he would choose Pikmin but not Zelda or Super Mario Galaxy 2, so maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Lol, people are still bringing up that game?

I'll believe it exists when I see it *officially* announced.

I still hold out hope that it is in development

well he did say it is in development so why do people not believe it is? i hope it comes soon summer would be a good time but spring is good too. do we know what games Nintendo will release in spring yet? that could be a good time for it or summer. can't wait!

I know I won't win any fans here, but seriously, why?  Pikmin did not sell that well on GC, it'll sell worse on Wii.   The NPC Pikmin sales were abysmal in NA.  So bad NPC Pikmin 2 never showed up despite being complete and localized.

If I was Nintendo, Pikmin 3 would be on 3DS, maybe Wii2 or scrapped altogether.  On Wii it'd struggle for 500k.

The Pikmin franchise is great so I would really want to see Pikmin 3 on the Wii even if it doesn't sell. Also, 1.6 Million and 1 Million is actually good to me considering it was a new franchise starting on the G.C. It would struggle to get to 500K? N.P.C Pikmin is currently at 490K and thats a port...it would sell 500K in Japan alone just like the 1st 2 did.

I dunno, looking at those NPC #'s it seems pretty strange.  The NA #'s seem out of whack.  Lifetime for Japan/Others is about 30% more than then first ten weeks but for NA it's a 130% increase.  Questionable.   However NPC Pikmin two show a similar pattern in Japan/Others so maybe it's right since NA never got 2 (which was too bad, because I was waiting for 2 before buying).   If those numbers are accurate I don't know why NoA never release Pikmin 2, then again, it's hardly the million seller NPC Mario Tennis or NPC DK was so maybe they figured one was enough.  Probably right based on those numbers.

I could definitely see NoJ releasing Pikmin 3, not so sure about NoA though.  Although they released Sin & Punishment and a couple very Japanese games this year so it could happen.  Would have to be in the slow part of the year though.

That is what I said...it would release during a dry spell. Also, if Pikmin 3 does still come(which Miyamoto said it was) then it would release in America too not just Japan...you know how many people Nintendo would piss off by making it Japan exclusive?

I think it would sell better this time around anyway due to the N.P.C version(s) and Brawl...Nobody knew what the heck a Pikmin even was back when the 1st 2 released...just like Fire Emblem it should get a boost.

Dunno, if the game is indeed alive, it'll either:

-Save the Wii from it's shadow

-Flop because of awful Wii sales

Nintendo will probably try to skip the second option and release it in a safe holiday period
