I have both GT5 and Forza 3 and in general haven't noticed any long load times in GT5 (except the initial install). Forza 3 on average takes about 30 seconds give or take to load a race, so i'm not sure why that video shows Forza in such a bad light. I'd say in terms of loading they were about equal. I don't have a problem either with the interface in GT5 unlike many others who complain. The graphics are definitely tipped in GT5's favor in some of the races, but it definitely suffers in others. Some tracks look poor and its obvious the standard cars are not up to the high level of finish of the premium.  I don't think this takes away from the enjoyment of the game though. I still prefer the car handling in Forza 3 over GT5 as it seems to react as I expect a car would when you apply power and braking. This could all be down to the fact I am using a pad in both games, but thats just my impression of it. GT5 also suffers a bit in terms of sense of speed, but thats just the difference between a sim and the slightly arcade route which Forza 3 took.

Both games are excellent and provide many hours of enjoyment whichever console you have.

farrrrrrr to reasonable and balnced... forza is a poor imitation of the definitive GT franchise... wash your mouth out!!

whats your opinion of the online apsects of each?

Unfortunately I can't comment as I haven't played Forza 3 online as I don't have a subscription. GT5, other than a few issues getting a game started seemed fine. Nice simple interface and a list of games to choose from. I have heard though the customisation options in Forza 3 for multiplayer are excellent, but because I haven't tried it I can't possibly comment.

Loading time are better on GT5 than Forza 3 after install... all reviews said that.

Face it @kowenicki.

LOL

Now counting the days... Dec 7th.

like I said its perfect.... 10/10. 25m sales and never to be bettered.

well... aside from limited online, (when it works), some terrible car models in base cars, some poor scenery in certain  tracks, major issues with the rain/ dust and shadow effects and the worst menu system of any game ever imo.

Now... Dont get me wrong, I really like the game and have played it as much as anyone (certainly more than you - got it yet?) over the last week but please dont tell me its perfect or definitive... because it isnt.

I just said the loading times on GT5 are better than Forza 3 and you don't accept that.

Nevermind.

I played so little or Arcade Mode... my friend imported it.

My preordered copy coming Dec 7th the offical launch here in Brazil.

Edit - Just I liked the new menu?

More options and customizations could be relesead by future patch.

My question is how funny is the online today? It's good ou just playable?

It's good.  Most options one would like to have are in there.  Open or Private Lobby. Restrictions on the type of cars available and the driving aid one can use.  You choose cars from the Arcade pack but can also select from your own if you make them your 'Favorites' in the GT Life mode.

The Lobby and Lounge system works well, and once a track have been chosen, you can select to "Drive" on it to practice with your car while the other players finish choosing their cars, tires, etc...   And once everyone is ready, the host (or any friend if you're in a private Lounge) just needs to hit "Start Race" and the race will start 30-40 seconds later.

After the race, you can't watch your replay right away, but you can save it to watch later in GT Life.  Also of note, if you enter a Lounge or Lobby while there's a Race already going on, you have the option to "Watch Race", and choose which car the "TV Cameras" follow.  There is probably a lot of things Polyphony can do to improve what's there already, but the foundations are pretty solid to me.

Finally @ Kowenicki: It's pretty amusing to see you throw a fit over such a petty thing.  It certainly looks painful for you to admit a PS3 game does something better than what is available on your beloved 360.  ¬_¬

Thanks... sounds good and I can't wait to try myself.

best game i ever played, it has its technical faults, and some bugs, and some annoying things in it, but the game still is amazing, the emotion i get when i watch the opening cinematic is something i never have felt before, to find the beauty of gt5 you must dig deep, you must go go gt5, you must hear the soundtrack, and most importantly you must look at the amazing cock pit view of the lambhorgini muita.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

Worst.........LOADING............EVER!!!!!

Seriously, there are loads so long that I thought the game had locked up.

Install it. Load times arent long at all?

It is installed.  Whats weird is some of the longest loads are AFTER a race returning to the menu.

EMULATION is the past.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

This game is shit loads of fun.

THE ONLINE is without doubt one of my top PS3 online games. Gather 16 swedish / iranian players on my friend list (the community system is so awesome, it almost like facebook but for cars LOL). Its so awesome playing with 16 people screaming in the mic, the tension when someone tries to overtake you, and you relise you cant do shit -> DIE MAN DIE. Lmao, oh and the start, the cluster fuck where some cars roll over and jump right over your car as you pass them.

Its so intense I just came while writing this.

As for the overall race performance, you can always put the penalty thing on so you don't really see these crashes as brutally and everyone can be boring and have a real race (Naw im just kidding). I just like action from time to time LOL. Especially when everyone screams Allah Ackbar before hitting each other XD. Such an amazing game, im truly addicted to it and its online mode.

Whoever said GT5 has "half working online", What the fucking balls are you talking about man?

EDIT: Just rememberd, Forza can only have 8 cars on the track. Wait is this really true? Im pretty sure it is o_o someone back me up fast! That means GT5 has 2x the amount?!

EDIT2: Or maybe Forza has ..12? Thats atleast better, I mean 8 is far too little. Can someone confirm how many cars can be at the track at once in Forza 3? I know GT5 has 16. Anything below 12-10 is wtf.

Its not the first GT I've played, but certainly the most addictive. The fact that they made licenses optional was a real boon to me. It sorta impeded me when I was advancing in GT4. Didn't enjoy the tests, but maybe its just me. Well, PD put it in the game, I will still try to get gold for it for the trophies I guess. Graphics wise, its just the shadows. I don't really mind the bland environments, when I am speeding past them at 200mph they do not really matter.

Menu-wise it didn't bother me one bit. I thought it was pretty cool. Granted, some things were a bit confusing to find at first, but nothing really counter intuitive. Anyone with some brains and patience should find anything they are looking for. When everything else fails, there is always the internet. Anyway one thing that bothered me a little, just as GT5p, was the listing of cars that met the requirements of the race. Will like something more automated. Now is like going through a list and trying to find a car that matched the requirement. For a car noob like me, it really isn't friendly. I end up always looking for Hondas and Toyotas as I can remember some of their real life counterpart names.

Online portion is as what reviewers said, extremely unfriendly and feels dated. If you have a strong community, there is no doubt endless fun in there. 16 cars online is a real joy to behold. However, if you're entering the lobby alone, it is really unfriendly design and it feels 90s as well. I think kaz said something about matchmaking and online credits, well, it will be great if it happens, even if it doesn't, I wouldn't mind. GT is about single player. There is simply soooooo much to do.

Now onto the good parts. The portion that really wowed me was the special events. After playing through the all the fun of karting, I went straight into NASCAR. Oh boy how different the two felt. Even through my DS3 (unfortunately), I can really feel the difference in handling. That was the time I understood why reviewers all said about the unrivalled gameplay. Its simply amazing. Each car handles really differently. I spent an hour on a kart race. When I finally won it, I went back to the normal cars and crashed at every corners. The handling is really different and I ended up crashing my way. lol.

I could go on and on about this game, but ultimately, I have spent like 10 hrs on it already since I got it yesterday. Its simply the most addictve GT I've played. Its so incredibly deep and I am always looking forward to unlocking a new event or track. I really love the level up system and I think its because of it thats got everyone hooked.

lol @kowen: dude seriously, sensitive and defensive much? they proved a simple point you made, to be wrong, provided evidence and you go bonkers! almost embarassing to see your outbursts these days, chill out for a bit

anywho good to see people loving it, I'll be getting mine after exams are done, in like 2 weeks :) can't wait

and yea CNN gave it a nice review/opinion piece as well
