Forums - Sony Discussion - GT5 graphics aren't that impressive

sieanr said:

The actual in-game graphics, particularly the environments are far from good looking. Feel free to disagree, but first take a look at these shots.

Blurry textures and the strange effect on the front of the camero (motion blur related?) thats a chevelle and its most likely the damage system on standard cars as you can see from the fender being pushed in a little

i havent played it or seen it in action probably wont for awhile but im not going to disagree with you on this

im known as a sony only fan and was i little bit hyped for gt5 but after the car list reveal, reviews, and all the negative news on it id be lying if i say im not dissapionted or impressed with it overall

We should do a disapointed thread, Killzone 2, LBP, GOW3, Heavy Rain ALL HAD THAT HONOR.

When the smoke settle down, and we sit and realize this game is still the best looking, most massive out there, we will see that hype goes both ways.

Other things, such as customization, damage, physics, sound, environments, are all better on Forza 3...  Quantity and the ability to look like real life was basically GT5's only trump card and it just didn't hold up to expectations it seems.

Nice jokes, forza fhysics are far inferior.

F3 only runs 8 cars, GT does 16 buddy, Ill take 16 cars on track over a 3d tree.

I didn't realize the number of cars had anything to do with physics.  The damage, handling, and other areas where physics is necessarily has pretty much always been a stronger suit of Forza and remains so.

They really haven't changed the physics model in the GT series in ages, and its definitely lagging behind Forza now. Why couldn't polyphony do a proper tyre displacement model?

To everyone who has commented....

I am assuming you are all on a high quality 1080P hd tv... made by Sony, Samsung, LG, Phillips, or Sharp...

Otherwise.. don't bother commenting...

I saw this on a Sony Bravia 52" 1080P 240HZ display.. and couldn't tell it apart from real life.

“Absolutely, we can do much more with it. I don’t know if we are even close to 50 percent of PlayStation 3’s power at this point,” said Asmussen about God of War 3.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

I've got a 46" 1080p Samsung and my cousin is picking up the game for me so it'll be ready for when I'm home from work. Can't wait to see this beauty.

@OP

I've commented already without adding anything to the topic and the thread has been entertaining. I'll chime in with my impressions of GT5 in the next few days. But for now I'd like to comment on the situation regarding GT5 vs Forza and the flame war incited by those who really don't have much more to cling onto in their sad, unfulfilling, unaccomplished realities.

Fact: Both games are incredible overall packages

Fact: Both games are easy on the eyes

Fact: Both games contain a lot of content

Fact: Both teams have put their blood, sweat and tears into these projects and should be commended, not humiliated and have their efforts trivialized by a bunch of twats that can't tell a twinkie from a ding-dong (I know this doesn't make sense but I thought I'd throw in some funny sounding words to not sound too credible )

Can we really ask for more? Those of us who are simply sim racer fans will enjoy the heck out of both games. We'll like some things more in one game and other things better in the other.

From what I've played of Forza 3 I find it to be the best racing sim I've played thus far. It's the first game where I can actually feel out car distances and speeds and act accordingly as I would in real life to avoid accidents. Are there better sims on the PC and PS3? There very well could be. Am I a noob or idiot for liking Forza 3 more? Nope. Anyone who thinks so isn't worth my time. Seeing many comment that GT5 has strong sim elements that rival (and to many surpass) Forza doesn't get me annoyed in the slightest. Sure I like Forza and tend to favour the 360 but knowing that there's something possibly better that I could experience only makes me excited. I want to go out and buy a good wheel now for my PS3.

Just enjoy the friggen games. Anyone expecting everything out of one game deserves to be disappointed. If you have such a high standard for a product, you should live by the same standard of intellect, respect, and credibility (ie. not flapping your gums like the rubber around a rip on an inflated balloon).

Having got that out of the way, GT5 and Forza both experience the same kinds of graphical inconsistencies. Both are pretty good looking games (astounding when you consider how much content there is in either). While racing both have issues and don't look good as press made it appear. The replay and photo modes/menu models look incredible only pushing the previous statement to further truth. If you want "OMGZZZ" graphics go play NFS and Dirt on PC. I find it sad that as the gens have come and gone, people still can't just enjoy the progression we've made and how beautiful these pieces of tech really are.

I have no idea what is wrong with some of you. You either need a better TV or actually play the game or something.. Its ridiculous reading some comments posted in here. when facts hits you in the face you still deny it.

CPU: Ryzen 7950X
GPU: MSI 4090 SUPRIM X 24G
Motherboard: MSI MEG X670E GODLIKE
RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 32GB DDR5
SSD: Kingston FURY Renegade 4TB
Gaming Console: PLAYSTATION 5

Yes I actually thought about GT 2 when I saw the trees. What the fuck? I guess Crysis spoiled me on the trees... :( PS style trees seems about right... Just more pixels on them but very simplistic (And fake) looking. Just sayin that's what I noticed from some of those low res vids... And I thought it was because of those Low res vids that caused that look ;/

ugh...guys you're getting disgusting with this subject. GT this, Forza that...i knew this would happen, when you ACTUALLY play the game and see how reviews will get better, and you'll see how sales are still strong, i'll be here to tell you, that all this shit you're doing, was just plain wrong.

Facts? Like direct captures from the game itself.

I think it was someone here who said that the levels look like they were worked on by different teams. I think thats true, or some of the older courses were just straight ports from the PS2 GTs.

sorry i couldn't resist to ask: have you played GT5 yet? what level are you at right now?
