Has this been posted already? I couldn't see it with a cursory glance, but I didn't look, to hard.

So, salient points for consoles:
- 6-12 year olds want iPad uber alles!
- 13+ want a computer (PC or iMac I presume) uber alles! Who says you don't get wiser as you get older?
6-12 year olds
- 25% want a DS
- 21% want a PS3
- 20% want 3DS
- 18% want a Wii
- 12% want a 360
- 17% want Move
- 14% want Kinect
- 14% want PSP
I'm assuming the difference between Kinect and 360 is the nuimber of kids who already have 360. Also could be that PS3 is higher because more kids already have a 360 and/or Wii. Though interesting Wii is significantly higher than 360. There seems to be pretty good awareness of Move, so the marketing it has received has been pretty effective at reaching a decent number of people. Move>Kinect, probably not surprising because the light on a stick that changes colour must appeal to the young'uns. 3DS won't even be out and it's pretty big! I wonder if they would be willing to get no presents at Xmas in order to wait for a 3DS at launch...riiight that's gonna happen. DS is still hugely popular and desired, plenty of life in that old dog.
13+ age
- 15% for Wii
- 13% for PS3
- 9% for 360
- 9% for Move
- 8% for Kinect
- 8% for DS
- 6% 3DS
- 5% PSP
Overall a lot less desire for consoles, probably because many already have one or more, are happy with their console lot and looking for something else. Notable is 17% want a Blu-ray player, which of course means those 17% would probably be OK with getting a Blu-ray player which just happens to be inside a PS3. Again in this demographic there is pretty evenly split desire (and awareness?) for Move and Kinect. Wii still in highest demand here, which means it's still got legs in it yet, and bodes well for winning the holidays. COmbined desire for Move or Kinect is > desire for Wii in both age categories, but only Move is really challenging Wii directly among the 6-12 year olds.
The bad news is that it seems nearly all kids want something other than a gaming machine for Xmas. The "i" devices being the biggest competition it seems, but some oldies and goodies still being high on the list, like a new TV.
There's more that can be said, but I'll leave that to others, unless it's already all been said in another thread.
Seems like there's opportunity for everyone there. Now it's down to the ads and how much whining the kids are prepared to do to get the device they want instead of the device their parents want them to have.
