Guys i know its a long shot, but i figure someone could help me... Ive been stuck on four math questions for 3 hours... I cant depict the way to do this out of my notes! Here are the questions, any help is appreciated:

1) A club bought a pool table for $720. They plan to share costs amongst all the members. Unfortunately, 2 members quit, raising the coast per person by $4. How many members are in the club?

2) For what values of p does this equation have 2 equal real roots -->   pxx-5x+p=0           (By xx i mean x squared)

3) Find the equation of a quadratic function that has roots at 2+-3(square root 5)

4)If a boat goes 65 km up river, then 55 km downriver in 15 hours, and the current is travelling at 5km/h, how fast is the boat?

x = total members in the club (initially)

720 = 4*(x-2)

(x-2) = 180

x = 182

I think...seems too easy lol

1)Ah, fuck, I forgot plus signs don't work in this site, it's all screwed...anyway, the answer is 20 at first, 18 later -_-

It's two equation with two  variables,  y = 720/x and y (plus) 4 = 720/x-2, solve that and it yields x =20

Lemme take a look at the others

But it increases by four for each person left, after two people leave. 4*(x-2) should only equal the price increase, not the full cost.... I think...

Oh lol I thought each one had to pay 4$ not increased of 4$. Sorry! Some people have the right answer above.

2) Use the -b plusminus sqrt(b2-4ac)/2a equation

5 pm sq(25 -4p)/2p, 25-4p = 0 -> p = 25/4 and it gives you a double root at 2
