They tend to avoid that because in games like FPSs and RTSs and MMORPGs console users would be frustrated by the PC users faster responses and more accurate aiming and stuff and the PC users would just completely dominate.

thats the point in me asking lol,a few 360 owners were saying PC domiation in games is my opinion, i want to prove them wrong in the most painful and embarissing way possible. TF2, CTF 2_forts, 100 captures. =]

Haha. Some of my console playing friends are like that too until I either convert them to PC gaming or this one time with this one guy. He was really stuborn and believed that a console controller was better than a Mouse and Keyboard for FPSs. So I even let him play me in their own game, Halo, both of us playing on computers only with him using a game pad and me using mouse bad. He didn't get a single frag on me with end score being 50-0 (50 was the frag limit).

ill admit the SixAxis/DS3 will be better then anything gamepad wise you can buy today for the analog sticjks due to it have 10-bit response then 8-bit like traditional controllers ( and the 360 and Wii's controllers) but even it couldnt handle the speed needed.

I am unconvinced that the Wii couldn't be somewhat competitive with a mouse and keyboard with the right control scheme. I don't think any out there keeps up with it yet (RE4 being the closest that I have played) but I see some potential. You just need to be able to recreate the ability to reset the mouse position, and possibly track movement off screen a bit better. It might not match it exactly, but I think you could put up a fight.

The only games for current-gen systems that do this are FFXI and Shadowrun. Sony's MMO action game The Agency will have PC/PS3-compatibility, and so will an MMOFPS that's being made for the 360/PC (I don't remember what it is called, I believe it comes out next year, and you can have 200-person fps matches =D).

Also, correct me if I am wrong, but I think Left 4 Dead will support cross-platform play. Even though it is an FPS, it is a cooperative FPS, so no one would really have the 'advantage'.

There are currently no games out or in development or planning that support cross-platform between 360/PS3, and I wouldn't expect there to be one, ever, sadly.

BTW I have CoD4 and it does not support cross-platform play. At least the 360 version doesn't--not too sure about the other 2.

i believe the wiimote has the potential to equal a mouse and keyboard. it may even surpass it.

also universe of war is an rts. if you really wanna see how superior a mouse is to a controller play starcraft 64 vs starcraft on the pc. its hilarious.

i thought gears of war, but don't shoot me if it isn't

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

*shoots you even though you said not to Maybe you are thinking about how you can play the PC version with a 360 controller?

Nah, PC controls trounce the Wii. Wii FPS controls are a lot more fun and immersive though.  It's a lot harder to hold a wiimote steady, and the keyboard movements can be configured to run faster then the analog numchuck movements.

I'd take Wii controls over dual stick anyday as well. It's just so much easier and quicker to Aim. Though strafing would likely be harder... so it probably depends on the game with the more realistic shooter more towards the wii, and your my high paced ones being more even. (The ones where you can run sideways as fast as you can running foward as if your legs were quadruple jointed.)

In every FPS so far, even the crappy-controlling ones, you strafe with the Nunchuk's analog stick.

There was only UT3 recently but the PS3/PC play got removed a while back, which is a shame cause it supported mouse and keyboard for the PS3. Would have been interesting.

PC definately dominates in two main genres; FPS and RTS. Other than that, Im all for console gaming for RPGs, sports games etc.

I dont think the wiimote could stand up to a keyboard and mouse, personally I didnt like the controls for MP3 (which is pretty much what everyone basis the wiimotes FPS abilities on)

I really enjoy MP3's controls, they make it very easy and immersive to get into the game. However, turning speed is too slow in comparison to using a mouse, so I don't think it would be competitive as it stands. If a fast turn button (which increases sensitivity temporarily or something to that effect) gets implemented, it could be competitive though, who knows!

Recent games,
Shadowrun supports PC Vs Console provided you have Xbox Live accounts on both sides. Universe At War is supposed to support 360 Vs PC.
UT3 PS3 Vs PC was dropped recently, may come back at a later date.
Quake 3 Arena supported DC Vs PC, not sure what is the status now.
