bioshock really does deserve it im happy for it.

that pisses me off they said dirt was better then motorstorm..........but better then forza? Comon open your eyes.

Mario is not an action game and deserved to be at least nominated for goty, i guess it does belong in action since they have no platformer.

Spike TV is owned and operated by MTV. That pretty much says it all.

I have no problems with Bioshock getting GOTY. Personally, I wasn't that impressed because it was very much a clone of System Shock 2, but I also understand that not all that many people played System Shock 2 and most don't realize how similar it is. To those who missed that original experience, Bioshock was something truly original. It's a great game anyway, even if not all that special when compared to its predecessor. I don't have a problem with it winning, but because SMG wasn't even present on the list I simply don't care about the list.

The gaming media is geared towards the hardcore teenage males. There is nothing really surprising in this, and we have all known it for years. While their awards may mean something to that select crowd, as we can see from the nifty sales website we are on, they don't mean much in the industry. Wii Sports didn't get any GOTY awards in 2006, but you can bet it will be remembered long after people have forgotten about GeoW, Oblivion, and Twilight Princess (the games that did receive most of the awards).

The list is made of fail, not so much because of who they awarded the things to but because they sold out to mountain dew and because its made by such an obviously biased source.

I think IGN's GotY will be the most important.

Yeah, I'm not sure where the hell that decision came from. 

Also, if Bioshock is GOTY, why isn't it the best PC Game?  It actually runs slightly better on PC than 360 (From a framerate vs. graphics standpoint).

Why the **** is there a best military game category!?  Are we going to add best WWII shooter next year?  Best Space Marine while we are at it?  If it wasn't worthy of best Shooter then leave it off the damn list.  

Similarly, why the hell is there a category for best game based on a movie or TV show?  If the game wasn't good enough to make any other lists, who cares????

We have these categories but we can't have "best platformer," and where the heck is "best Strategy" game category?  I guess strategy games make Spike TV viewers' brains hurt.  

I'm not even going to get into how wrong the "Fueled by Dew" category is.  This is why anything associated with MTV automatically fails.

BioShock? Sure, it's a good game, but not as good as Super Mario Galaxy. 98% on Metacritics... Come on... I smell Mario haters...

Who made this list? Zelda does not beat Mario Kart on the DS. Galaxy is not an action game. Halo 3, fueled by Dew? Why not open a category for "Pinkest game cover: Wario Ware: Smooth Moves," and "Best Assassin's Creed game: Assassin's Creed?"

And the Simpson's Game sucked... Hard... Not a single one even reached 80%+ on Game Rankings. Bee Movie Game even beat it.

Just because mario had the highest doesnt mean that thats how everyone feels about it. Alot of people really liked bioshock
