They could always release that DVD-playing "premium" Wii they talked about in 2006 originally. It got pushed aside when the platform took off, but Nintendo even went out and licensed the codecs for it.

DVD playback, a bigger flash drive, wireless N, integrated Motion Plus into remote, new shell casing and maybe new colors... there's incremental stuff they could do that wouldn't drive up costs much and would probably push more hardware. To make it really attractive though, they need to institute and migration path for digital content (something they've handled horribly with DSi to DSi XL).

VERY VERY nice launch

IMO it is obviously mainly REbuying unit (like for the PS3 slim) but it is still good

only time will tell what is the real effect on sales of the new model

but 200k is already a nice start

Hmm...totally didn't see this happening for 360 sales. I thought maybe 120K and MAX at 150K...this kinda makes me wonder and look at the launch of Kinect alot more optimistically. 360 is probably going to see decent sales thru August, and then POP...Halo Reach...then POP...Kinect and Holiday sales...interesting times indeed. Perhaps Sony will look into another PS3 re-launch...

I'm always quite sceptical about the rebuying theory, but in this case I'm at least very curious about how many XB360S' Seece and kowenicki bought each to help MS.

Of course, that's how it goes in here and every other internet forum in history.

The funny thing is, when I came to Vgchartz nearly three years ago (became a member, that is) I really cared about the console wars (wanting the PS3 to reign supreme since it was/was going to be such a great console, I was wrong and it is a pale shade of the PS2 imo) but now it means basically nothing as my PC is my go to platform for this generation. I like to think it makes me a better member and poster. And smarter. And more handsome.

I also got super powers when i stopped caring and made my PC the go to platform. Its amazing, everyone should try it!
