Cladun: This Is An RPG Crawling To PSP This Fall

By Spencer . July 16, 2010 . 12:00pm

NIS America is bringing Classic Dungeon to North America under the quirky name Cladun: This is an RPG.

Actually, Cladun is more of a dungeon crawler. Heroes from different dimensions come to Manakaz to explore randomly generated dungeons. The game comes with seven pre-made characters (one of them is a Disgaea cameo), but like 3D Dot Game Heroes one of the highlights is creating and trading custom heroes. Before you enter a dungeon you can “equip” four support characters. Units on your team can boost your main character’s stats.

Cladun: This is an RPG will be released on PlayStation Network this fall.

Z.H.P.: Unlosing Ranger Vs. Darkdeath Evilman, The Battle Begins This Winter

By Spencer . July 16, 2010 . 12:01pm

The legendary Unloser Ranger was on his way to fight Deathdark Tanaka, your typical superhero villain that breathes fire and shoots laser beams from its eyes.

… then he got hit by a car. Now an everyday kid took over the job of the Unloser Ranger and has to face Deathdark. He has some help. The original Unloser Ranger gives him advice as a ghost. Etlan trains him and the two civilians, feeling guilty for running over the original Unloser Ranger, offer support too. That’s the premise for Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman, the English version of Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku.

The Unlosing Ranger’s special power is transforming. You can equip him with all sorts of parts, drill arms, tank legs, and even parts to make him look like certain Disgaea characters. Speaking of Disgaea, Z.H.P. is dungeon crawler developed by the Disgaea team.

You guide and customize Unloser Ranger through randomly generated dungeons. Dungeons have traps like pause that stops you from moving and flying wood logs that change your position. A fog of war hides enemies on the game’s grid-like maps. You have to move to see monsters, but moving also makes your hunger meter, the green meter, go down. The system is similar to roguelikes such as Shiren the Wanderer and Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja.

Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman will be available as a digital download on PlayStation Network and UMD this winter.

A Message From Disgaea Producer Souhei Niikawa

By Spencer . July 16, 2010 . 12:02pm

At NIS America’s North American press event, Souhei Niikawa took the stage with a message for press and Nippon Ichi fans. This is what he said.

My name is Souhei Niikawa, and I am the producer of Nippon Ichi Software. Thank you very much for coming to NIS America’s press event tonight. From this year on, Nippon Ichi Software will limit the number of titles we release in a year. We are doing this to improve the game quality, and also to increase the customer satisfaction.

The  games that have been showcased here tonight were strictly selected and developed with this new policy. The first title is Z.H.P. This is our latest dungeon RPG that has been created by the same staff members of  Disgaea 3. The project began soon after the release of Disgaea 3 and for two years it has been under intense development to formulate the game  system. We’re proud to say that Z.H.P. was made to surpass the Disgaea series and, also, it is a title with all of our know how’s and ideas we build upon combined in to. To describe how confident we are about this title…

Let’s just say we’re as excited as the time when we first developed Disgaea. This is a title that we would like to nurture into the level of Disgaea, so please help us.

The 2nd title is Cladun. This is a hack & slash type action RPG. This title also has some of the same staff members as Disgaea and it is highly addictive. As our wish it would be great if you can help these 2 titles grow.

Oh  and one last thing. This year the latest Disagea will be released in Japan and  it will be for the PS3. Plans to make Disagea evolve to a new level and also plans to surprise everybody is in progress. By the time Tokyo Game Show comes around we will be able to release more  information, so please look forward to  it. Thank you very much.

Personally I would prefer with Disgaea that they just spruce up the presentation they already have.  They can keep everything in 2D sprites but just make those sprites more detailed without obvious 8-bit esque pixels.  I suppose 3D might be ok if they managed to make a style like Gust, but I don't know how well that would fit with Disgaea.

This is want I want too! I dont think Disgaea would hold the same charm without the sprites and, low quality 3D models are ugly(l assuming thats the route they would go) alittle  more Hi RES sprites would be enough for me.

NIs is really supporting Sony this year! Great news

and unlosing avenger? HELL YEAH! lol

Cladun going PSN is smart, they should keep the DLC coming.  I'm still kinda surprised at how many PSP games they're leaving in Japan though (Prinny 2, La Pucelle Ragnorak, Princess Antiphona, Blue Roses, everything from Gust/IDEAF)... if it wasn't from the Disgaea team, they'd have probably skipped out on Zettai Hero too.  I'm shocked Prinny 2 is missing, wasn't it basically made for America?
