No, God doesn't rule all. Don't you read your bible... Satan is the god of this earth, it says so.

Atheist's for the win! :P

Ok i'm just kidding, i'm an atheist, i love being a atheist, and i'll always be one. Do i mind that others have religion? I do not, as long as they don't try to enforce that religion upon me, or others that do not want it.

I was grown up christian, but one morning woke up, connected my brain and found out that beliefs, religion is just a big pile of shit. My biggest concern is baptism, you force somebody to get a religion at birth (yeah when you're fully aware), or before to kill someone (muslim tradition), or better, by converting to your religion after their death (moron-ic).

I don't care people believing in whatever. I care when they want to force their views and traditions to other people. Which tend to happen too much these days. What drives me mad is when fundamentalists and other retards are trying to influence politics.

Edit : Ha, a good quote from the comments on the link of OP : 'Everyone is born as an atheist' /end threads

so does it piss you off when atheitst try to force their views on other people and call religion a ''big pile of shit''

Because debate, satire and the written word is "forcing" a view.

uh, did i say that anyone here forced his/hers view on anyone???  I've seen people insulting other people's beliefs though ( mostly christian beliefs, but of course, no one is gonna get banned for that, because most of mods dont share chrisitan beliefs, but try saying gay marrige is big pile of shit and see what heppens then). So please dont put words in my mouth

Hence the name of the title.

Religion gets slandered left and right so nothing has changed.

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

Means nothing, to be real.

There were many times in historie where people could reject religion. They didn't, because they didn't want too. Religion is part of the human structure. Also with genes - i'm pretty sure they'll find them. Most ( my quess 80% ) people need it for psychological health.

I don't believe myself, but i see why people need of want it.

Does this theory have anything to do with Sigmund Freud?

No, not that i know off. I assume he had some theory about it?

My simple take on it is: People demand unrealistic scientific standards on most things they use. And yet don't want it on Religion - or ignore it simply. That's a choice they make.

Yea, my mother and friends wanted me to get baptized (and I am an atheist). They know I am an atheist, so not sure why they want me to do it.

If I don't accept Jesus as my savor while I do it, it's just some guy poring water on my face. Kind of stupid.

It is because according to the catholic church, if you are not baptized, the devil lives in you (or owns your soul).

It's a shame since there are so many positive benefits of religion and being religious.

I love this! Might not be true and all, it just has a great tone

Not offending anyone, rip it apart all you want, just thought i'd show it.

Benefits of religion:

-less likely to abuse alcohol or drugs

-charity

Cons of religion:

-higher homicide rate

-Higher poverty rate

-Higher infant mortality rate (who knows what's behind that one)

-Higher illiteracy rates

-higher divorce rates

-Lower levels of education

-Lower levels of gender equality

If you want to argue self-fulfillment then you're going to have to prove that no one can be happy while not believing in god, which isn't true. But other than what I listed can you give me some other benefits of being religious?
