so how is the fee schedule?

is it a flat monthly fee only or do you have to pay for each game? do you buy the games or rent them for X amount of time?

here is a question:

will OnLive serve as its own console in terms of online (i.e. you can only play games with other people who have onlive), or will i be able to play, say, borderlands with people that bought the actuall PC game to use on their PC?

OnLive is apparently contained to its own community.  What is neat is you can jump in and spectate a bunch of people playing online, and watch the action.   So, in some sense, it is its own console.

interesting...well after doing some of my own reasearch, i can tell you im not interested anymore. after seeing the prices and finding out you dont actually own the game you pay for, this is not my thing.

If I had the desk space and a second video card (and a good enough PSU to support a second 5870 as well), I'd make it four in a heartbeat. :)

should have waited for that eyefin6 =P

Yeah, but they cost more, and then you have to deal with DP adapters too, since my monitors don't have DP (in fact, they have basically everything but it).

You pay for the service and then buy play tickets that can give you multiple years access to a game (like buying) or go the rental amount.  As of now, the service is free for a year.  After a year it will be like $5/month for people who sign up now, and then look to probably go up to $10/month.

You are also able to get unlimited play in half hour chunks as demos, for a lot of the games.

Well, it is now free.  I do recommend people sign up and at least kick the tires to play with the technology.

oh dont get me wrong, im trying the service out (if they give me a pass). its a really great concept, but onlive just doesnt..."use" that concept well IMO. $5 a month is great but  considering the price of some games (splinter cell is $60!) for games you dont even own, im not seeing much come of this.

this is how i would do it: think gamefly, you pay a much larger subscription ($15-$20 a month) for unlimited access to every game on the service...its like renting from gamefly, only faster, you have more games at the ready for you to play, and you can play them whenever you want for as long as you want....

just my suggestion, what do you think?

its a $5 a month subscription(unless your a founding member, than the first year is free) plus the price of either renting games for 3 or 5 days, or you can buy a full pass which gives full access to the game as long as OnLive supports the game...

these are the current prices (supposedly) according to eurogamer:http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/full-list-of-onlive-pricing-options

im sure much more options will become avaliable, but as it stands, you can only rent Batma: Arkam Asylum (among others), aswell there are a few games you can only buy...

Well at least they're upfront about the fact that you aren't guaranteed to own the games forever...

So I'm trying it out right now, and yes I was right on the money with the video quality not matching up, I can see artifacts pretty clearly, my internet is fast mind you, so the response time is not bad at all, but the quality is meh imo.
