Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation Plus $88 Value in 1st Month alone

If you have been wondering if PlayStation Plus is worth the extra $50 per year, you’ll be happy to know that in the first month of the service is offering a value of well over $50 itself. Not to mention some really cool features and deals.

PlayStation Plus may cost $49.99 for a year, but it will definitely be worth its price tag if Sony can keep offering up excellent content like this first month’s smorgasbord of goodies. This month’s offering alone racks up over $88 in value when you add up all of the free or discounted content.

Here’s what is available in PlayStation Plus now:

  • inFamous game trial (60-minute trial)
  • WipEout HD (Full Game) FREE [normally $19.99]
  • Rally Cross (PSOne Classic) FREE [normally $5.99]
  • Age of Zombies (minis) FREE [normally $4.99]

Of course that’s not all, there’s also a new Automatic Downloading feature added to the XMB which allows you to update your firmware, or install game patches even if you aren’t in front of your PS3.

Being a PlayStation Plus subscriber also gets you a nice little “Plus” golden d-pad icon next to your PSN profile and on your friends list.

woah, Wipeout Hd completely free?! I wanted to sign up for PSN anyway, but this is just great.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

The full game, PSone Classic and minis are only playable as long as you are subscribed to PlayStation Plus . You don't own them.

I already own Wipeout HD so er... no way in hell I'm signing up to this lol.

Next months game is... Zen Pinball... yeah looks like I'm not signing up next month either :D.

I am thinking the little golden DPAD is going to be as rare as rocking horse teeth on your friends list.

yes fully free till your subscription ends

Still don't know about it.

I do care about Wipe Out HD, it would be great to have it for free, though if I had to pay for it, I'd put my money somewhere else (as I've been doing since it's out). If they were offering free deals as that every month, then I might pay for the Plus service.

This drops its value and leads you to get caught in a vicious circle. I'd rather purchase retail games at that price :)

might buy 3 months since we get 3 months free.
