Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo has so much, why did they show so little?

I gotta say Nintendo E3 conference was the best of any conference this year. It blew me away, but after the conference Nintendo began announcing more content throughout the day. The list of 3DS titles kept growing with a new MarioKart, PilotWings remakes of StarFox64 and OOT. Then theirs all the third party content.

Legend Of Zelda:Skyward Sword, sure I liked the live demo by Shigeru but this was one of the worst presentations of a new Zelda game. I think back to TP and then back to Windwaker and further back to OoT. Every time an epic trailer was shown and content not on the show floor was availible. But Nintendo chose to only show us essentially the floor demo. No epic boss battles no horse back riding no other gameplay elements. Don't get me wrong I loved seeing LOZ:SS but it was by far the worst unvieling of a Zelda game in recent history. They could have shown us way more!

3DS , their was a total lack of info with the 3DS. Nintendo didn't comment at all on the consoles actual power (Processing power) they didn't talk at all about release date or even vaguely hint that the console is coming in 2010 or 2011. Then the price point was also ignored. In the past Nintendo has almost always unvieled their price points and launch date's or at least launch period's at E3 yet there was absolutely no info on the 3DS's launch. Heck Nintendo never even told us how many titles will be availible at launch (Only one confirmed at the show (Kid Icarus:Uprising).

3DS games, when I saw Kid Icarus I was extatic. But I wanted to see more. I thought origionally "I guess Nintendo has nothing else to show" that would have been sufficient. Until within hours photo's of Mario Kart, PilotWings, Oot made their way to the internet. Soon the list of titles blossomed to over twenty and I wondered, why didn't Nintendo show some of these titles at their conference. Where was the MarioKart trailer, PilotWings trailer and trailers from third party titles? Nintendo could have shown way more content for the 3DS during their conference.

Vitality Sensor, I was sorta dissapointed that the Vitality Sensor wasn't in Nintendo's conference. I really wanted to see what Nintendo had instore for it. Origionally I thought the product was cancelled but soon after read an interview with a Nintendo employee saying Nintendo just didn't think it was right for the show. Didn't think it was right for the show come on, Nintendo could have shown the launch software and some of the third party content they talked about last year.

Now don't take it as me complaining about Nintendo's conference and their exhibits. But after seeing and hearing so much that Nintendo has unvieled I can't help but wonder why Nintendo didn't actually use the full 2 hours. I counted it at what an hour and a half. Why didn't they unviel everything they've unvieled today at their press conference it would have only made the conference that much better then the competition.

Why did Nintendo show us so little?

If they would have shown everything the audience would have had heart attacks because the awesomeness.

They needed some stuff for next year.

E3 2011: Wii Viality Sensor, Pikmin 3, Starfox Wii and 3DS, F-Zero Wii and 3DS, Zelda 3DS, Super Smash Bros 3DS, Next Nintendo Console.

I don't think they will show Vitality Sensor next year. If its coming it'll be revealed this year. Delaying it till a new console is on the market would really screw it up.

You mention many games that remain unnancounced. I was refering to all the titles Nintendo has unvieled in interviews and on the show floor. Things like MarioKart, PilotWings, LoZ:OoT and StarFox64. Then they could have shown a small video or screenshots for games like Animal Crossing and Paper Mario.

Nintendo didn't give the 3DS enough time in the show in my opinion. They should have spent at least an hour on it. If they had shown us everything they've showed us today and maybe a couple trailers for games we've seen screens for. That would have made this E3 the biggest E3 ever, well it could have surpassed Wii's unvieling in 2006!

I'm sorry man, I really am. But if the shoe fits....

Seriously dude you've made quite a few threads now about what Nintendo "didn't show", "could've done better", or "didn't look as good as  it should". It's coming across as whining.

Nintendo was very pressed for time during that conference. They wanted all the press in attendance to see the 3DS in action before they went to the next event. People like IGN and Kotaku will make sure to see it on the show floor, but the mainstream might not get what the big deal is, but if they see it they will at least mention it in their article. CNN probably will do 15 minutes of coverage on all of E3, Nintendo needed to absolutely make sure they include the 3DS in that. With 45 minutes to show off the 3DS to the entire crows, and the Sony conference happening not too long after, they needed to keep everything short. OoT 3D or Star Fox 3D don't need to be mentioned, they are core gamer games and since we won't be seeing the 3D ourselves, there is no reason to do anything other than an announcement (which we will see anyway later that day). They are pushing the 3DS to the new gamers in the conference, since the core will see the screenshots and games anyway.

Imagine the day Nintendo unleash their truth power.

I see... first, the rage of third parties, then their end. After that, all competition gone. I can even see... Martini Mario, or Porsche Skyward Sword...

Really, just let it be as it is.

Personally I think that Ninty will have another one of their special conferences here after E3.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?
