Depends how you look at it. Visually - i.e. how well they use the 'whole' to trick your eye into seeing something lovely - I think it slightly edges Gears 2.

Technically - i.e. if I ignore how well Remedy balanced their visual choices and just look at the textures, AA, resolution, etc. and squint at the screen then Gears 2 is probably still ahead, mainly due to the higher resolution and certain areas of textures.

They're very different engines, though, so it's not the best compare.

i have never heard anybody say Gears is xbox'x uncharted 2.

Mass effect 2 is better than both Gears and Alan Wake.

Gears is also better than Alan Wake at detailing.so overall both ME2 and Gears are better than Alan Wake.

alan wake has very good lighting effects though

Visually Mass Effect 2 is more appealing.

People did say that the character models looked dated, etc for Alan Wake whereas Mass Effect 2 wasn't criticized for anything in the graphics department. I'm sure many would've seen the X360 version vs PC version of Mass Effect 2. BioWare did a bloody good job of making the graphics of the X360 version match closely to the PC version.

Course Gears 2 looks fab but ME2 is still better overall.

Oh okay thanks for clearing that up. Yeah I think Alan Wake could beat Gears 2 from what I've seen.
