Iwata mentions that when Nintendo decided that they wanted to show the 3DS at E3, they also wanted to have third party games to show off. In order to make this happen, they had to expand the knowledge of the system to people outside of Nintendo. Unfortunately, this leads to leaks and other bits of information getting around. Nintendo bit the bullet and let the info out to third parties, because having those games to show was important to them. |
This made me so much more interested in the 3DS than I might have ever been. I wonder what the Wii software library might have been like had Nintendo bit the bullet?

None of the names mentioned for the 3DS in this thread are likely lol
I wouldn't expect anyone to get it right though unless they kept the 3DS name.. I mean nobody knows anything about the system and Nintendo called their last console "Wii".. What hope does anybody actually have of guessing?

What about "Nintendo 3Dii" :D. Nintendo could keep the double i as a signature... Also seeing them calling the Wii successor the TWii... maybe.
Sorry to bring back that fake ds with a single screen that had 3 ways to play , but that sounds so right im my mind , (not the model itself but the overall concept) i think it may have only one screen , and work just like that way , so "DS" does not need to be in the name still i LOVE 3DS i think would cause to many to think in it as a new model instead of a brand new hardware , so it can be anything ,(and dont forget we even know everything all that it does) so it can be named anything...

I laugh how people keep saying how much they love the name 3DS and want it to be that, reminds me of the days the Wii was known as the Nintendo Revolution.
