Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What is the best order to replay the Zelda series?

I currently own most of the Zelda series, but I have not played many of the games in years.  If I replay ever game in my collection, which is the best order to play them in?  I currenlty own

1. "The Legend of Zelda", 2. Zelda II (The Adventure of Link), 3. "A Link to the Past", 4. "Link's Awakening", 5. "Ocarina of Time",  6. "Majora's Mask", 7. "Oracle of Ages", 8. "Oracle of Seasons", 9. "Four Swords Adventure", 10. "Wind Waker", 11. "Minish Cap" and 12. "Twilight Princess".

What order should I play them in?  Chronological of release, Following a specific Zelda Time Line or someone other order?

In order of release, I guess.

I personally never plan to touch the Nes Zelda games ever again, though. If anything, I'd play Link to the Past, Wind Waker, the two DS games, and finally, Twilight Princess. That's right. I wouldn't even touch Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. Their memories would be tarnished.

You have the Gameboy games! Awesome!!!

Depends on how thorough you want to be.

Whenever I do a run of a series, it's usually in chronological order.

Because they just care about making a good game and don't care about the timeline.

I would start with the original Legend of Zelda, play through the rest of games and finish with another play-through of the original Legend of Zelda...since its the best Zelda game and can start and finish off a great quest for you!

Timeline and Zelda?

Just play the games. Leave that to the "experts".

There's no official timeline for the games. And any timeline you hear from people online is all speculation. There's as many timelines made up by people as there are Zelda games themselves. So you might as well just either play the games as they originally came out or in whatever order you choose.

Personally, I find the Zelda series to have a good track record when it comes to quality of games and sequels improving on the previous titles. So playing the games as they came out would be your best bet. And you can't go wrong starting with the original Legend of Zelda, which is still to this day one of the best Zelda games.
