go to your router's page 192.168.1.1
enter the username and password
Look under security under wireless settings and see if you're using encryption. If you are, you should just be using a standard encryption, nothing fancy.
Then, go to your ps3 and look at network settings. Make sure it's on the right network first of all, and then enter the password for your internet accessibility shown on your router page on the encryption portion.
Then have the ps3 test the connection.

If there is still a problem, update your router firmware by going to the homepage of the manufacturer and download the newest firmware. Everything should be fine after that.

They are fucking annoying.

Like for example I had about 20 minutes spare time today before I had to go back to school, so I though I could get in a game or two of Modern Warfare 2 but....no; I had to do the fucking 3.20 or whatever the recent one is. And you can't play online until you do the update.

I know they usually take under 10 minutes or so but still its annoying as hell when you just want to pop in a disk and play a couple quick online matches but you have to do an update.

What Sony needs to do is send an actual important yet simple update : HDMI fix

Amazing how greedy and selfish we have become. 10 years ago i would have killed for my PSOne or PS2 or even before that, my genesis or SNES to be able to evolve for free at no cost to me. Now we bitch about it taking 20 minutes as if the system is holding us onto our couch and not letting us go make a sandwich, browse our PC's or read a book or magazine, play with our pet, switch over and watch some TV while its updating, vacuum the living room, take out the trash, do the dishes......

The 3.30 update took maybe 5-10 minutes on an ethernet connected 30Mbs connection, so there's nothing wrong with the update size. Some of the major updates have been much larger.

It would be nice if SCE scheduled the updates a bit more regularly, rather than the random (to consumers; SCE undoubtedly has a schedule for firmware and feature updates/additions) method they've been using all this time.

As for the annoyance factor, firmware updates are less annoying than the game updates for individual games. They're much less frequent if you play a lot of different games.

I either use my Belkin cable or my cheap one and they both work fine.

The real problem is with my Optical audio cable, but I think it could just be my surround sound.

Yeah its amazing how i didnt quote you and im speaking on your "these updates need to stop" If it takes you 3 hours to DL 30 mb its a you problem not Sony.

Youre bitching and asking for one of the greatest things this gen, the updates, because youre faulty internet.
