Forums - Sales Discussion - PS3 Sales in Uk down 82% week 2....

Sony send ~220k to UK, and Sold around 175k, and this week sold 30k.

So 175+30k = 215k

Unless sony has sent more ps3, almost all PS3 are SOLD OUT =)

According to MeriStation, the PS3 has nearly sold out across all of Spain. They were allocated 110,000 units and have reportedly gone through 100,000 of them. Sony is planning to keep the supply up, granting Spain 20,000 units every week. In addition to this, the demand for the Blu-ray format has increased by 30% since the PS3's launch. Awesome, but not unexpected. It is awesome. I wish anything that I created would sell 100,000 copies. Eventually!

30k a week in the UK would mean its well on target to overtake the ps2 if it sustains that level , i for one think it will hover around 15k until either new games arrive or price cuts occur .It will overtake the Xbox 360 just after xmas and the wii early next year if the wii becomes widely available . The sales figures for the wii here are kinda hard to say with only a couple of shipments since xmas id say less than 200k so far .

Is there any source for UK weekly sales? Or Europe in general? I'm hoping VG Charts I mean VG Chartz works on getting better European numbers. we get into these conversations about Europe's sales and I feel like I don't know the significance of any of these numbers.

Every sales chart I've ever seen does not stop the down trend after the first drop unless there is a supply constraint or significant event. Noone should be surprised if there are several weeks more of declining sales.

I just looked at a bunch of different launches and I see this is pretty normal some systems didn't drop as much though.

fixed my math error, and

kber...it is when you consider Japan's first 4 weeks

week1 87500

 week 2 44000 50% drop

week 3 36000 another 18% drop

 week 4 32000 11% drop

week 5 49500

what this shows is... most people that wanted a ps3 got it first weekend on britain  now to see if rest of europe has a similar drop...

and see what the drop-if there is one- is  NEXT week.. i forsee that ps3 will be following the japan/usa trend of sales, which is not a good thing for the ps3 to be doing if they EVER want to catch the 360 or wii

True, but if you continue with these figures, it's a different story : 72 750, 80 000, 75250, 70 000, then it slow down to 30k then 20k.

Anyway, there was some figures release for France by Games for the first WE and it was... 6 000. Micromania, #1 retailers announced 20 000, and considering they add up to more than 50 % market shares, it's under the 60 000 for France (Sony was claimig 78 000).

And yeah, of course, it's still to early to analyze all this stuff.

Comparing supply constrained launches to plentiful supply launches is a bit silly. The sales curve for each is completely different.

Could be supply problem... could be for the awsome ps2 games that we got in Europe now... could be that the fanboys bought the console for launch... could be that Sony sucks and now one wants to buy their console.

How much is normal for the UK?

Sony should have released 30k so they would have been sold ut for several months looks much better with the Great demand.

Seems a little early for panic, dontcha think?   Was everyone expecting another 100,000 units sold the 2nd week?

Sony just had a record launch (which was reported as a dismal failure).   Cut them some slack.

God am I really saying this?

i was expecting a drop yes. say around 50%

but not a plummet.

82% is a plummet.
